Sunday hours are BACK at our Main Branch!

While we had a great time at our Seaway Mall Branch Pop-up last Sunday, a reminder that from now until April 27*, our Sunday hours are returning to the Main Branch.

Spend the coziest day of the week at the library, where you can stock up on books, movies, games & more... or just find a quiet place to read, write or recharge for the week.

See you Sundays, 1–5pm.

*Closed Sunday, December 27 and Sunday, March 28.

🏛️ Armour Livingstone McCrae | 1953–1958: Mayor of Welland

Before becoming mayor, Armour Livingstone McCrae co-owned McCrae Bros. Sporting Goods at 285 East Main Street with his brother Alex. He was remembered for lowering prices so children from families with limited means could take part in sports.

That same community spirit carried into his six years as mayor. McCrae helped lead Welland through a period of growth and its 1958 centennial celebrations (pictured here at the Welland Centennial Parade on East Main Street). That year, he also became the first mayor to wear Welland’s new chain of office, decorated with maple leaves and the city crest.

McCrae believed Welland’s strength came from people of different backgrounds learning to respect one another. He also helped foster connections between English and French-speaking Canada, playing a major role in twinning Welland with the city of Sorel, Quebec.

Though his career later took him to Toronto, McCrae never lost his love for Welland. Today, McCrae Drive (Formerly Maple Drive) carries his name, keeping his legacy close to home.

🧤🧣Winter Warmth Table | All winter
Donate new or gently used winter wear, including coats, hats, scarves and mitts. Heavy socks (new only) and handmade items are welcome, too!

🛠️🧼Toolbox Niagara | Until Nov. 30
Help fill essential care kits for local men by donating new, unopened toiletries, socks, underwear, warm accessories, personal care items, snacks and small activities.

🍁🥫Sharecrows Food Drive | Oct. 20-31
Visit registered Sharecrows displays around Welland and drop off non-perishable food and personal hygiene items.

Every donation helps make a difference. Thank you for supporting our community!
