Friends of the West Kelowna Library will be rolling out all the best books and puzzles for gifting or to keep you occupied during the winter months. There will be draw tickets to purchase, to win lovely prize baskets provided by their supportive local community.
All sale proceeds support the West Kelowna branch of the Okanagan Regional Library and the Westside Learning Lab!

Kelowna Friends of Library volunteers (and our libraries) are immensely thankful for your patronage at our annual Fall GO sale. We were wowed by the records set in crowds attending, sales made (over 800 boxes sold including more than 100 boxes of kids books) and funds raised. 🙂📚🪅
As this wet cool weather descends☔️, we’re imagining you cosy-ing down with all those good reads. Our house is loving all the new bedtime reads. Special treasures have been hidden away ready for holiday and birthday gift giving. 🎁🧑‍🎄

Do you need to clear space on your shelves to make way for these new books?
Our extremely hard-working volunteers (pink-shirters and orange scarvers) are in recovery but wish to remind you that you can donate gently used books (puzzles & games too!) year-round and towards Kelowna Friends 2027 book sales

Three Donation Locations:
Drop-bins in Kelowna for small amounts, anytime: Parkinson Recreation Centre carpark turning circle & ORL Admin Centre (1430 K.L.O. Rd).
Large amounts are accepted at Friends sorting base - Unit #114, 2476 Westlake Rd, West Kelowna (next to Rose Valley Veterinary Hospital) Fridays only 9am – 11:30am.
Please don’t leave bags or boxes of items outside these designated locations.

Final hours of the Great Okanagan Book Sale have commenced, Saturday 17 October 9:30am. Volunteers will close the doors promptly at 2pm.

Even now we are below the last 400 boxes, there are many bargains and treasures to be found.
Magic from the tables: It has been uplifting to see many new generations of readers at the tables. Some have been coming since they were kids and now are arriving with uni friends and their own kids along with grandparents. One shopper has been coming for the past 3 GO sales and on Friday night found the exact title she had been longing for!

Magic happens because of .all the people who donate books, the volunteers who gather & sort books, the pink shirt crew (along with orange scarved helpers) who plan & run the sale, and you our book lovers & shoppers. THANK YOU ALL!Our libraries across the ORL network love the funds received from sale proceeds. Check out the info display boards at the cash tables for how their branches use funds to benefit of library programs and their communities.Our hardworking volunteers will now enjoy a relaxing break. Day 3 of our 4-day GO sale is already upon us! Friday 16 October, 9:30am – 8pm.
Sale runs until 8pm tonight and volunteers will close the doors for the final time, tomorrow Saturday at 2pm.
It was another WOW! for Day 2 crowds and sales. Friends look well on the way to setting a GO sale RECORD! YOU are helping us get there!
All remaining boxes are expected to be unloaded by volunteers onto tables by mid-afternoon Friday. Lots and lots of good fiction (softcover and hardcover), a great selection across all fiction categories. Biography, Gardening and Cooking titles are plentiful too!
Most just $2!🙃
Fresh boxes of kids books (junior fiction & non-fiction) also hit the tables in the Children’s Room (Bargain $1) – look for the bunch of bright balloons on the Left Side wall of the Hall to find that room’s entrance. 🎈🎈🎈
There’s also individually priced good-as-new books, great for gifts and last of the Puzzles & Games (specially marked with FOL price stickers)
And as so many shoppers find, there will be that one particular treasure that is waiting to speak to only you!

Day 2 of the Great Okanagan Book Sale is underway!
Thursday 15 October, 9:30am – 8pm.
WOW! Opening afternoon Wednesday 14 was crazy busy & hugely successful.

Under bright Okanagan sunny skies, shoppers queued in longest line-up for a GO sale. Spirits soared as doors opened, shoppers discovered the bonanza of 1000 boxes of books. Bags, carts and boxes of bargains streamed out.
Satisfied shoppers drove from as far as Kamloops. Even the small bundles of books bringing joy – young parents in Childrens Room selecting first books to read with new babes as they grow – and the treasure of a family finding the perfect puzzle gift for Grandpa!
Hundred of boxes of fresh stock will be unpacked by volunteers throughout Thursday and Friday.

Tip! Please consider arriving, outside of peak period (1:30pm – 3:30pm) for nearby school pickup and to alleviate parking & traffic congestion in the vicinity of Sutherland Ave, Ethel and Richter Streets. Friends wish everyone to be safe and considerate not frustrated, so to enjoy the experience of our books.
You won’t miss out! Sale runs to 8pm!

Special notes for shoppers:
1)When attending the sale on Wed / Thu / Fri, please take particular care for the safety of kids and families during drop-off and pick-up periods for St Joseph School and Daycare that share the access & parking lot with the Hall.
For safety and smoother traffic flow, all motorists must travel through the lot as follows: ENTER from Sutherland Ave, using the WEST ALLEY/ENTRANCE (directly beside the Church) EXIT to Sutherland Ave, using the EAST ALLEY (closest to St. Joseph School and Ethel St.). There is no entry at this exit-only lane.

2)All shoppers must enter the Hall building, through the main front doors, at the Ethel Street end of the Hall.

3)This year the Childrens Room will be located on the LEFT side of the Hall floor.

Wow! What a sizzling summer sale we’re having! Shoppers scooped up more bargains in just one day than the entire two days of last summer’s sale. And the bargain bonanza continues today Sunday, 10am-3pm. (Friends sorting unit next to Rose Valley Veterinary Hospital, #114- 2476 Westlake Rd, West Kelowna. V1Z 2V2)
Volunteers have hundreds of fresh items ready to replenish the tables & shelves throughout the day.

Success like this inspires our hardworking volunteers even more. After a few days rest, they will be excited to re-build stock towards our Fall 36th Annual Great Okanagan Book Sale (October 14-17, in week after Thanksgiving. In Kelowna, at Immaculate Conception Parish Hall)
