What does "smart tourism" mean? This is what a panel of Whistler tourism experts deliberated at a luncheon last week. Discussion included what leading practices are already being implemented in Whistler as well as what other leading practices and destinations we can learn from and build upon. Another fun aspect of my job! I got to moderate a panel on sustainability in the film industry with Zena Harris from https://lnkd.in/gEZcPt4K, David Hardy from https://whites.com/, and our very own Whistlerite, Mike Douglas from https://lnkd.in/g9S85fks and Protect Our Winters Canada, at the Whistler Film Festival. Learned lots about what the film industry is doing, from new technologies to procurement to ESG practices. (And then I got to ski a couple of runs on the mountain before heading back to work - thus the ski outfit!)

Thought Leaders' Outlook 2022 - Renewable Cities Thought leaders on climate and cities share their high priority climate actions for 2022.

Congratulations to the District of Squamish for commissioning their landfill gas capture and flaring system. This project was highlighted as one of the lowest hanging fruit of the Community Climate Action Plan we worked on with the District and CEA.

“This is a significant step forward in our ongoing efforts and commitment to our Community Climate Action Plan,” says District of Squamish Mayor Karen Elliott.

The system in the future has the potential to divert the collected methane and convert it into a usable and renewable energy source.
