Help shape Whitby's future!

The Town of Whitby is looking for approximately 100 volunteers to serve on advisory committees and boards.

These committees are an important way for residents to bring their experience, ideas and perspectives directly into municipal decision-making.

No previous committee experience is required. I encourage anyone interested in contributing to our community to consider applying.

Deadline: November 22, 2026, at 4:30 p.m.

You can begin dropping off your carved jack-o-lanterns anytime after 2:30. We are excited to give them their last big hurrah! Free popcorn, free hot cocoa, Durham Escape Rooms scavenger hunt, Lynde House Museum, Whitby Town Criers , Ana-Maria Dance Academy presents Thriller, Whitby Fire truck (if no emergencies! ). Mayor's favourite pumpkin contest 🎃

80+ Hockey Hall of Fame game on right now at Iroquois Park right here in Whitby! I was happy to sponsor it and to drop the puck because I am in absolute awe of these athletes. I met a gentleman who was a little sad that he was only 76 and thus, too young to be inducted 💜

Every Tuesday in November, the CVP team will be out on the road in a different Durham Region township providing care to those who may face challenges getting to a traditional vet.

If you or a loved one have a physical or psychological barrier (such as disease, physical injury, PTSD amongst others) and struggle to access a veterinary clinic for your pet, we will bring care to your home with no mobile fee.

‪‪❤︎‬‪‪ The flags at all Town facilities will be lowered to half-mast from now until sunset on Friday, October 23, to honour those affected by the tragedy at Canadian Forces Base Wainwright, Alberta, on October 17, 2026.

We join communities across the country in mourning this loss and extend our sincere condolences to everyone impacted by this tragic event.

What's different about this municipal election?

In previous elections, Whitby residents voted for four Regional Councillors who represented the entire town.

This election, that changes.

Whitby has moved to a ward-based system for Regional Council. Each ward will now elect its own dedicated Regional Councillor, just as it does for local Council.That means you'll vote for one Regional Councillor from your ward, rather than four candidates elected town-wide.

The change gives each ward a direct voice at Durham Region's Council table, with a representative accountable to the residents of that community.

One ballot. Four choices. And a new way of electing your Regional Councillor.
