What a fun evening of learning, civic engagement, and youth voices!

Last week, our Employment Program youth attended the Youth Run the City event hosted by Immigration Partnership Winnipeg. Through interactive activities, our youth learned about different branches of government, listened to mock youth mayoral candidates and their Q&A session, and even cast their votes in a mock election! They also had the exciting opportunity to meet mayoral candidates running in the upcoming election and enjoyed some delicious food provided by Daanook! 😋

A big thank you to Immigration Partnership Winnipeg for organizing such an engaging and educational experience for our youth! 💙

🧡 Every Child Matters. 🧡

Tomorrow September 30, marks the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and Orange Shirt Day — a time to honour residential school Survivors, their families and communities, and remember the children who never returned home.

Last week, our N.E.E.D.S. staff came together for a learning session and small-group discussion, followed by hands-on activities including rock painting and bannock making.

As an organization supporting newcomer children, youth and families, we recognize the importance of learning about Indigenous history, listening to Indigenous voices, and understanding the history of the land we call home.

Tomorrow, we encourage everyone to take time to learn, listen and reflect.

Yesterday, our N.E.E.D.S. team had the honour of joining the Pembina Trails School Division Newcomer Family Event at Fort Richmond Collegiate. 💙

We were happy to connect with newcomer families, share information about our free programs and services, and highlight some of the supports available for newcomer children and youth in Winnipeg.

Thank you to Pembina Trails School Division for inviting us, and to everyone who stopped by our booth to chat with our team!

A fun night at the ballpark!

Our Remote After-School Mentorship Program clients and families had a great time enjoying a baseball game together! There were lots of smiles, great moments, and a few lucky fans even went home with a baseball as a special souvenir. ⚾😊

We’re so happy to be able to share opportunities like this with our newcomer families and create some wonderful summer memories together! 💙
