Bordsec Organizes Muster Parade to Raise Awareness on Mpox at Elubo Border.
Elubo, Ghana – In a proactive effort to safeguard the health and well-being of border personnel, the Border Security committee (Bordsec) at the Elubo border organized a muster parade on 19th September 2024. The primary objective of the event was to sensitize officers on the prevention and control of Mpox, a contagious viral illness and relevant security issues that may confront the nation.
The muster parade, attended by all Bordsec personnel stationed at the Elubo border, featured a comprehensive briefing on Mpox. The officers were provided with detailed information about the symptoms, transmission modes, and effective preventive measures by the Head of Port Health at Elubo. The importance of maintaining proper hygiene, avoiding close contact with infected individuals, and adhering to public health guidelines was emphasized.
In addition to the briefing, the officers were also instructed on the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), such as masks, gloves, and gowns, in situations where exposure to Mpox is possible. The Bordsec emphasized the crucial role of border personnel in preventing the spread of the virus, particularly given the high volume of travelers passing through the border.
The muster parade was a testament to Bordsec's commitment to the health and safety of its officers. By raising awareness about Mpox and providing essential information, the agencies are taking proactive steps to protect their personnel,contribute to the overall health of the community and helping in detecting cases at the Elubo border.

The Port Health Office at Elubo border organized a training on Monkeypox, focusing on transmission, diagnosis, and prevention. This training prepares staff to identify and manage cases, safeguarding travelers and the local community, and underscoring the government's commitment to public health.
