The Permanent Mission of Bhutan in Geneva, in collaboration with UNDP Geneva and the Conscious Food Systems Alliance, convened an event on 23 April 2026 to introduce the Geneva-based international community to the forthcoming Global Conscious Food Systems Summit, scheduled to take place in Bhutan from 31 August to 4 September 2026.

As part of the programme, a panel discussion was held on the role of consciousness and inner transformation in addressing contemporary global challenges, featuring representatives from UNDP Geneva, the Committee on World Food Security, the Swiss Federal Office of Agriculture, FAO, and OHCHR.

Kutshab Tshering Lhadn paid a courtesy call on H.E. Dr. C. Senthil Pandian, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of India to the WTO.

The meeting provided an opportunity to exchange views on Bhutan’s ongoing accession to the World Trade Organization (WTO), including recent developments and the way forward.

Kutshab Tshering Lhadn paid a courtesy call on H.E. Mr. Alexander KMENTT, Permanent Representative of Austria to United Nations Office and to the Special Organisations as well as to the WTO in Geneva. During the meeting, Kutshab congratulated Ambassador Alexander on being appointed as the Chairperson of the Working Party on the accession of Bhutan to World Trade Organisation and discussed on the accession of Bhutan.

During the visit to Zurich, Ambassador Tshering Lhadn met Mr. Werner Kuelling, former Secretary-General of Helvetas and the third Resident Coordinator of Helvetas in Bhutan; Ms. Sibylle Pacher, granddaughter of Fritz von Schulthess; Mr. Nicolas Oltramare, grandson of Fritz von Schulthess; and Mrs. Ursula Markus , who visited Bhutan in the 1960s as a photographer accompanying her father, Augusto Gansser, who led several geological expeditions to Bhutan in the early 1960s.

A delegation from the Royal Government of Bhutan, led by H.E. Ms. Tshering Lhadn, Permanent Representative of Bhutan to the United Nations and other International Organizations in Geneva, is participating in the 14th WTO Ministerial Conference, taking place in Yaoundé, Cameroon, from 26 to 29 March 2026.

The delegation’s participation underscores Bhutan’s commitment to engaging constructively in the multilateral trading system and its interest to become a WTO member.

The WTO Ministerial Conference is the highest decision-making body of the World Trade Organization, bringing together trade ministers from member countries to negotiate and make decisions on global trade rules.

Her Excellency Mrs. Tshering Lhadn, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Bhutan to the Swiss Confederation, presented her Letter of Credence to His Excellency Mr. Guy Parmelin, the President of the Swiss Confederation at a ceremony held in Bern on 26 February 2026.

On the occasion, the Ambassador conveyed the warm greetings and best wishes of His Majesty The King to the President, Government, and people of Switzerland. She reaffirmed Bhutan’s commitment to further strengthening the close and friendly relations between Bhutan and Switzerland.

Ambassador Lhadn expressed sincere appreciation for Switzerland’s longstanding partnership and valuable support to Bhutan’s socio-economic development.

Both sides reaffirmed their shared commitment to enhancing bilateral cooperation and collaboration in areas of mutual interest.

The Permanent Mission of Bhutan to the UN in Geneva, together with members of the Bhutanese community in and around Geneva gathered this morning to celebrate the auspicious occasion of the 46th Birth Anniversary of His Majesty The King and offer our heartfelt tribute to His Majesty’s extraordinary leadership, compassion, and dedication to the well-being of the people of Bhutan. The occasion was marked by the recitation of the Zhabten and offering of butter lamps followed by a lunch hosted by Mission.
