Geneva marked the World Bee Day 2023 with an initiative "Honey for Empowerment"!

We celebrated the hard-working pollinators and women & youth behind them by:
🐝 visiting girl beekeepers in Karaj
🌍 hearing from women beekeeper cooperative in Kigali
🌺 learning about pollination in Geneva
🍯 tasting honey from BiH

We learnt about women beekeeper cooperative in Kigali, from Murekezi Solange: "👩🏾‍🌾 Beekeeping can be a tool to promote gender equality and empower women and girls in their local communities by engaging them in economic activity that brings benefits to whole families. 🐝"

The empowering potential of skills and competencies was visible in the programmes for refugee girls in Karaj who attend beekeeping workshops supported by Embassy of Slovenia in Teheran.

Our honey tasting would not be the same without our partner organization in Bosnia and Herzegovina! 🍯 Acacia honey was produced by UDAS, mine & UXO survivors organization that engages in beekeeping with the support of ITF Enhancing Human Security & Slovenia’s development aid. 🐝

🇸🇮 Slovenia, 🇪🇪 Estonia & 🇺🇳 UN Water Convention Secretariat promote transboundary water cooperation at a special event today in Geneva. 💦

Slovenia believes that international water cooperation is one of the most important pillars of peace & security. 🌊 🕊️

Ambassador Anita Pipan met with the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Türk.

Ahead of the 75th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights they agreed that the global challenges hold a strong human rights component. 🌍

This is why, human rights are integral part of the solutions, too!

Ambassador Pipan hosted a traditional Slovenian breakfast for our office building.

Slovenia joined the UN Women's Guild International Bazaar 2022 bringing countries together - United for Children!

Team sLOVEnia represented our green and sustainable country and offered the tastes of Slovenia 🇸🇮, including locally-produced Slovenian honey🍯, Piran salt 🧂, herbal tea 🫖 & sustainable water💦 bottles - for a good cause - to protect children around the world👧🏼.

Participants were able to learn about the famous Slovenian female chef Ana Roš and got to know more about the diverse regions of Slovenia.
