♟️🌍 The 4th FIDE EDU “Preparation of Teachers” Course in Arabic Has Officially Kicked Off!

We are delighted to welcome 18 enthusiastic participants representing 10 Arab countries to the 4th edition of our online Arabic-language Preparation of Teachers (PoT) course! 🎉

🌟 Day 1 marked the beginning of another exciting journey of learning, collaboration, and sharing experiences, bringing together educators and chess enthusiasts united by a common goal: advancing Chess in Education across the Arab world!

Through this course, participants will explore innovative approaches to teaching chess and integrating its educational benefits into the classroom, taking an important step toward earning the FIDE School Instructor (SI) title.

♟️ Empowering Young Minds Through Chess

Nirbhed Foundation, an Indian non-profit organisation supporting underprivileged children through education and community welfare, organised an interactive chess workshop to promote learning beyond textbooks.

The workshop was conducted by Dubai-based International Chess Coach FI Atul Chauhan, who travelled to India to introduce young learners to chess and its educational benefits.

Through engaging activities and practical sessions, students explored chess while developing concentration, patience, logical reasoning, strategic thinking, and decision-making skills.

The initiative highlights the importance of Chess in Education and making chess accessible to children from all socio-economic backgrounds.

FIDE’s Chess in Education Commission continues to accelerate its provision of training for Lecturers and Teachers of Educational Chess, offering a series of high-level online and in-person opportunities in autumn and winter 2026.

📚 The 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐋𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞𝐫𝐬 (𝐏𝐨𝐋) 𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐞 leads to the 𝐅𝐈𝐃𝐄 𝐭𝐢𝐭𝐥𝐞𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐝 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥 𝐈𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐫 (𝐋𝐒𝐈) and 𝐒𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐨𝐫 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐝 𝐈𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐫 (𝐒𝐋𝐈). It is intended primarily for those who will train teachers, helping to expand the global community of educators capable of teaching chess in an educational way.

Chess has a long history in schools, yet the field has lacked a global account of how school chess programs are organized, supported and evaluated. The 2026 FIDE Global Chess in Schools Survey, conducted for the FIDE Chess in Education Commission, was designed to address that gap. The 42nd Edition of the FIDE Preparation of Teachers (POT) Course has successfully concluded, bringing together an inspiring group of participants from diverse professional backgrounds, including a 𝙂𝙧𝙖𝙣𝙙𝙢𝙖𝙨𝙩𝙚𝙧 (𝙂𝙈) 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙀𝙪𝙧𝙤𝙥𝙚𝙖𝙣 𝙔𝙤𝙪𝙩𝙝 𝘾𝙝𝙖𝙢𝙥𝙞𝙤𝙣, highlighting how the FIDE Chess in Education methodology can benefit not only educators but also competitive chess players who wish to bring their knowledge and experience into teaching.

♟️🌍 The 12th RIDEF Comes to Lomé, Togo!

From 18–28 December 2026, Lomé will host the 12th International Francophone Chess Meetings (RIDEF), bringing together the Francophone chess community for competition, learning and cultural exchange.

Alongside classical and blitz championships, the programme features two FIDE training opportunities, including a FIDE Preparation of Teachers course (School Instructor title course) led by FIDE Senior Lead Instructor Denis Lemouton. The course will explore chess education methodologies, digital learning tools and teaching chess fundamentals to children, supporting the development of chess in education across the Francophone world.

With €11,200 in guaranteed prizes, the event will unite players, educators and chess professionals in a celebration of chess both as a competitive sport and an educational tool.
