A historic day today, Thursday 15th December 2022 as the Tupapa Maraerenga Netball court dome is officially opened.
A formal ceremony was held to celebrate the opening of "Rangi Marumaru", the new name for the dome.
This project has been a personal project for the Minister who has spent a lot of time planning & putting the construction work together, all with zero funding.
Guest speakers included the Minister himself, the Prime Minister Hon. Mark Brown, Kings Representative Sir Tom Marsters, President for Tupapa Maraerenga Sports Association Tere Strickland & President for Tupapa Netball Marama Kamana.
Meitaki maata to all those involved in making this a reality.

We are making progress at the newly constructed Tupapa netball court dome. Today the Minister & his team set up & installed the steel frame that holds the dome together.
At its highest point, the dome stands at 11 meters in height sloping to 5 meters on each side. The Minister intends to add a covered grandstand on each side with completion of the project by the end of October.
A formal grand opening is planned for sometime in December.
As reported previously, there's been no budget allocated towards this project & the Minister has spent thousands of dollars out of his own pocket as well as the generosity of individuals who have assisted to see this project completed. Contact the Minister's office or the Minister directly if you'd like to help in any way.

As reported in our last post, work has started on the construction of the Tupapa Maraerenga Netball court dome. The Minister was on-site to set up the profile for the foundation, posts will support an oval shaped dome designed by the Minister. The dome area is 35m x 21m, tiered seating will be set up on both sides & the dome will have some solar capacity.
While the materials was a gift from China, no funds were earmarked for building it but the Minister is determined to build it by Christmas even if out of his own pocket.
By late this afternoon we can report that two local business owners have pledged small donations to assist with the building work. Meitaki gentlemen. We would like to acknowledge the Tupapa Maraerenga Sports Association for their funding support & as the major stakeholder. The work will go on.
