Labour Day 2026: PIC Ladies Clinch Handball Trophy in Bamenda

The women’s team of the Office of the Public Independent Conciliator of the North-West Region emerged victorious in the handball competition during the 140th edition of Labour Day celebrations in Bamenda, proudly taking home the championship trophy.

The PIC ladies began their campaign with a strong performance against the Bamenda City Council in the opening match. They went on to face Aningdoh Cooperative Credit Union in a thrilling final, where they secured a convincing victory with a score of 18 goals to 11.

A Record of Consistent Performance
The team’s latest triumph adds to an impressive track record in regional sporting events:

- 2024 – 1st place in handball during International Women’s Day activities
- 2025 – 2nd place in handball during International Women’s Day activities
- 2026 – 2nd place in handball during International Women’s Day activities
- 2026 – 1st place in handball during Labour Day sports activities

Beyond Competition

Participation in sporting activities organized ahead of national celebrations goes beyond competition. It provides an opportunity for staff from various institutions across the region to interact, build relationships, and exchange ideas, particularly on their respective missions and visions.

For the Office of the Public Independent Conciliator, such engagements help strengthen institutional visibility while promoting teamwork, wellness, and collaboration within the public service.

Labour Day Recognition at PIC North-West Region

Staff of the Office of the Public Independent Conciliator (PIC) of the North-West Region have been honoured with Labour Day medals in recognition of their dedication and service to the nation.

Mr. Ndi Nelson (Research Officer No. 1), Dr. Atia Tilarious (Research Officer No. 5), and Ms. Waindim Claudia Mbu were awarded Silver and Silver-Gilt Medals for their outstanding commitment and professionalism.

These distinguished recipients have consistently demonstrated hard work, integrity, and selflessness in serving the nation.

Their recognition is a testament to the invaluable role they play in promoting good governance and public service delivery.

The British High Commissioner to Cameroon, H.E. Matt Woods, paid a second working visit to the Office of the Public Independent Conciliator (PIC) of the North-West Region on Tuesday, 21 April 2026.

This visit follows his initial engagement with the institution on 18 March 2025 and comes shortly after a capacity-building workshop organized by the British High Commission in Yaoundé, in which staff of the PIC North-West Region participated. The High Commissioner was accompanied by two senior officials of the high commission.

PIC North-West Team Pays Courtesy Visit to Taku Community

A delegation from the Office of the Public Independent Conciliator (PIC) of the North-West Region paid a courtesy visit to members of the Taku Association for Development (TAD) on 15 March 2026 at Up-Station, Bamenda.

The delegation comprised Dr. Alfred Wuku, Research Officer No. 4, and Barrister Dimla Hanson, Complaint Management Officer No. 2. They were warmly received by members of the association during a meeting aimed at strengthening engagement between the institution and the Taku community.

PIC North-West Participates in Workshop on Foundations of Mass Atrocity Prevention

The Office of the Public Independent Conciliator (PIC) of the North-West Region participated in a workshop on the Foundations of Mass Atrocity Prevention, organized by the British High Commission to Cameroon in partnership with the Auschwitz Institute for the Prevention of Genocide and Mass Atrocities. The workshop took place from 26 to 28 February 2026 in Yaoundé.

PIC NW Female Staff Mark International Women’s Day 2026 with Advocacy, Sports and Support to Women with Disabilities

Female staff of the Office of the Public Independent Conciliator of the North-West Region (PIC NW) are joining women across Cameroon to commemorate the 41st edition of International Women’s Day (IWD) on March 8, 2026, under the theme “Justice for all women and girls.”

The theme underscores the urgency of rights protection and access to justice amid growing concerns over gender-based violence and rising cases of femicide.

IWD 2026: PIC Experts, Radio Guests Focus on Theme, Women’s Rights and Leadership Roles

Madam Nina Ambuban (Research Officer No. 3), Miss Fongwa Kesten (Complaint Management Officer No. 1), Madam Nonying Armelle, Board Chair of the Coordinating Unit Association for Persons with Disabilities, and Madam Shatu Jatuma, President of Indigenous Girls Rise and Women for Peace and Development, were guests on one of the flagship radio programmes produced by the Office of the Public Independent Conciliator of the North-West Region.

During the programme, the panel discussed issues related to women’s rights and the leadership role of women in their communities.

The first edition of the programme, “My Council, My Rights,” for the month of March hosted a panel discussion aligned with preparations for the celebration of International Women's Day in Bamenda. Female PIC experts and their guests used the platform to boost the morale of women across the region by sharing their perspectives on the theme of this year’s celebration and examining how it relates to the mission and role of the Public Independent Conciliator.
