Bamenda 1 Council Unveils New Library to Promote Reading Culture
The Bamenda 1 Council has proudly opened a brand-new public library in the Atogohla Quarter, with the inauguration taking place on Saturday, January 24, 2026. This exciting new facility is filled with over 3,500 books generously donated by Book Aid International, all aimed at nurturing a vibrant reading culture among both children and adults in the community.
The library features two distinct areas: a cozy children's corner and a dedicated adult section. It offers a diverse range of resources, including school curriculum books, educational materials, puzzles, and literary works, all designed to support learning and inspire a lifelong love of reading.
During the inauguration, the Mayor of Bamenda 1 Council Mbigha Felix passionately highlighted the vital role of reading as the cornerstone of knowledge and personal development. He pointed out that for children, reading sharpens their minds, boosts academic success, and ignites their imagination and creativity. For adults, he emphasized that reading keeps the mind engaged, broadens knowledge, and opens doors to ongoing learning and self-improvement.
The Mayor earnestly encouraged parents to actively guide their children in utilizing the library. "I urge every parent to make this library a second home for their children," he said. "Encourage them to explore a wide range of books. The habit of reading is a lifelong gift." He also invited adults to make regular visits, reminding everyone that learning is a lifelong journey that extends beyond the classroom.
The ceremony was a joyous occasion, attended by the Inspector of Basic Education, head teachers, students, and book enthusiasts, all celebrating the arrival of this essential community resource.
The Bamenda 1 Council Library welcomes the public every day from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

CPDM Launches Campaign Strategy in Mezam 1A, Installs Zonal Managers for 2025 Elections
In a decisive move to consolidate grassroots support for the upcoming presidential election, the Cameroon People's Democratic Movement (CPDM) in Mezam 1A has officially commissioned and installed a comprehensive structure of campaign team managers. This strategic deployment is designed to ensure an intensive and far-reaching mobilization effort across the constituency.
The newly inaugurated campaign framework features a hierarchical team with key leadership positions, including a President and Vice President, to oversee operations. In a meticulous organizational strategy, these managers have been tasked with leading over ten dedicated members each.
Crucially, the entire Mezam 1A zone has been segmented into ten distinct strategic sectors, with a dedicated team assigned to each. This granular approach ensures that the CPDM's message of continuity and development under President Paul Biya is delivered door-to-door, leaving no community untouched.
The official installation ceremony was held yesterday, Sunday, 19th December 2025, at the Bamenda 1 Council Hall.
The event, which doubled as the official campaign launch for the sector, was attended by a fervent gathering of party militants, local stakeholders, and senior party officials. The presence of these key figures underscored the party's unity and its serious commitment to securing a massive victory in the region.
Addressing the newly installed managers, party leaders emphasized the critical nature of their mission. They were charged with not only disseminating the party's manifesto but also with galvanizing support at the most micro-level, ensuring high voter turnout and solidifying the CPDM's base in Mezam 1A. This structured and zonal campaign model marks a significant escalation in the CPDM's electoral efforts, signaling a highly organized and determined push for the 2025 presidential polls.
