Peace Corps’ presence in Cameroon began in 1962. Since then, nearly 4,000 Americans have served as Volunteers in various capacities. Currently, there are 33 Volunteers serving in three programs: Agriculture, Community Health, and Education. In addition to the two-year volunteer assignment model, Peace Corps/Cameroon manages a Response Volunteer program, and a Virtual Service Pilot Program (VSPP). General Information

How do Volunteers introduce themselves in their communities?

To close out this , Volunteers Lucy and Colbert show us how they introduce themselves in Fulfulde. They aren’t just sharing their names. They are bridging divides, building trust, and creating connections with their host communities that will last a lifetime.

Fulfulde is one of the languages that Volunteers might learn during pre-service training, and just one of the 240 languages spoken across Cameroon!

This Peace Corps Language Week, Volunteers across French-speaking Africa share the moments that shaped their service - moments that reveal the impact of stepping into a new culture, learning a new language, and serving with purpose. 🌍✨

Let their voices inspire your own journey. If you’re ready to learn, lead, and make a difference, your story begins with one decision - to apply. 💙

Back‑to‑school is almost here, and third‑year Volunteer Angel is helping young learners start strong!

Alongside her counterparts, Angel is conducting vision screenings, checking vaccine records, and completing full health assessments to ensure every child is ready for day one.
