The magic of Jazz & Roll Night lit up Mushaisa once again! 🎷✨

We experienced two unforgettable nights in the second edition of this event, which is quickly becoming a tradition. It was a musical journey where the elegance of jazz and the energy of rock came together to move us all.

Thank you to our student musicians, dedicated teachers, and everyone who joined us, showing that culture and live music are at the heart of our community.

Vivimos dos noches inolvidables en la segunda edición de este encuentro que ya se está convirtiendo en tradición. Fue un viaje sonoro donde la elegancia del jazz y la fuerza del rock se fusionaron para hacernos vibrar.

Gracias a nuestros músicos en formación, a los docentes que dejaron el corazón en el escenario y a todos los que nos acompañaron, demostrando que la cultura y la música en vivo son el motor de nuestra comunidad.

Yesterday, we held our Student-Led Conferences, where students and parents came together to share the progress and learning achieved throughout the school year 📚✨.

El día de ayer llevamos a cabo las Reuniones Tripartitas, un espacio en el que nuestros estudiantes y padres de familia compartieron los avances y aprendizajes que se han desarrollado a lo largo del año escolar 📚✨.

After participating in the Binational Games with the basketball team, Massimo began competing in the National U-12 Classical Chess Tournament held in Bogotá ♟️🏆.

The tournament brought together 80 players from across the country, including top leagues such as Antioquia, Valle, Bogotá, and Santander. Representing La Guajira and Colegio Albania, Massimo ranked among the top 10 players in the country, tying in points for sixth place.

Después de su participación en los juegos binacionales con el equipo de baloncesto, Massimo inició su participación en el Torneo Nacional de Ajedrez Clásico categoría sub-12, realizado en Bogotá ♟️🏆.

En una competencia que reunió a 80 jugadores de todo el país, incluyendo representantes de las ligas más fuertes como Antioquia, Valle, Bogotá y Santander, Massimo representó con orgullo a La Guajira y al Colegio Albania, logrando ubicarse entre los 10 mejores del país, empatando en puntos por la sexta posición.

After an intense week of competition, we celebrate the participation of our teams in the Middle School Binational Games 2026 🏆💪🏽. Beyond the results, our students showed that true victory lies in the values lived both on and off the field.

With discipline, respect, and a strong spirit of fair play, they represented our school with excellence, earning the sportsmanship award. This recognition reflects their commitment, integrity, and the way they faced each challenge with character and humility.

We congratulate all our athletes for proudly representing our school and reminding us that sports shape not only athletes, but also great human beings.

Después de una intensa semana deportiva, celebramos la participación de nuestros equipos en los Juegos Binacionales Middle School 2026 🏆💪🏽. Más allá de los resultados, nuestros estudiantes demostraron que el verdadero triunfo está en los valores que se viven dentro y fuera del campo.

Con disciplina, respeto y un gran espíritu de juego limpio, representaron a nuestra institución de manera ejemplar, haciéndose merecedores del premio al sportsmanship. Este reconocimiento refleja su compromiso, integridad y la forma en que enfrentaron cada reto con carácter y humildad.

Our Transition students visited the Manantial Experimental Farm 🌱✨. During the experience, they learned about the responsible use of natural resources and discovered how this area, once used for coal extraction, is now being restored and rehabilitated.

As part of the visit, students planted trees, strengthening their connection with nature and understanding the importance of protecting the environment. 💚🌍

Nuestros estudiantes de transición visitaron la Granja Experimental Manantial 🌱✨. Durante la jornada, aprendieron sobre el uso responsable de los recursos naturales y conocieron el proceso de recuperación de este espacio, que anteriormente fue explotado para la extracción de carbón y hoy se encuentra en rehabilitación.

Como parte de la experiencia, los estudiantes sembraron arbolitos, fortaleciendo su conexión con la naturaleza y comprendiendo la importancia de cuidar el medio ambiente. 💚🌍

Colegio Albania has been a key partner in Cerrejón’s volunteer program “Changing Lives Together,” strengthening educational processes at both curricular and extracurricular levels, including preparation for the Saber 11 (ICFES) exams.

Last year, 24 teachers and 11 COALBA students took part in an academic mission, sharing their knowledge with Institución Educativa San Rafael de Albania.

As a result, 20 students achieved scores above 300, a milestone not seen in the past 10 years.

These efforts also reached the institutions of Porciosa, Ware Waren, Provincial, Akuaipa, and María Auxiliadora in Cuestecitas.

El Colegio Albania ha sido aliado del voluntariado de Cerrejón “Juntos Cambiamos Vidas”, fortaleciendo procesos educativos a nivel curricular y extracurricular, incluyendo la preparación para las pruebas Saber 11 (ICFES).

El año anterior, 24 docentes y 11 estudiantes de COALBA participaron en una misión académica compartiendo sus aprendizajes con la Institución Educativa San Rafael de Albania.

Como resultado, 20 estudiantes alcanzaron puntajes superiores a 300, un logro que no se evidenciaba desde hace 10 años.

Estas intervenciones también se extendieron a las instituciones de Porciosa, Ware Waren, Provincial, Akuaipa y María Auxiliadora de Cuestecitas.

“When two cultures meet, everyone learns.”

On March 13, Colegio Albania welcomed 15 students and 5 teachers from Institución Etnoeducativa Villa for a meaningful day of cultural exchange filled with learning and connection. We learned about Wayuu culture, ethnomathematics, the traditional Soura string game, and enjoyed songs and performances that brought us closer to their worldview.Our students shared games, educational materials, theater performances, and our learning spaces. The day also included a reading promotion session and a tour of our three library spaces, where participants explored books and fostered the exchange of knowledge through reading.Throughout the day, students shared snacks and lunch, demonstrating the school’s core values: respect, responsibility, honesty, autonomy, and equity.We also delivered donations of clothing, school supplies, and toys collected by our community.Experiences like this remind us that education is also built by listening, sharing, and learning from the cultures of our territory.

El pasado 13 de marzo recibimos en el Colegio Albania a 15 estudiantes y 5 profesores de la Institución Etnoeducativa Villa para una jornada de intercambio cultural llena de aprendizaje y encuentro. Aprendimos sobre cultura Wayuu, etnomatemáticas, el juego tradicional de hilos Soura, y disfrutamos de cantos y presentaciones que nos acercaron a su cosmovisión. Nuestros estudiantes compartieron juegos, materiales didácticos, obras de teatro y nuestros espacios de aprendizaje. La jornada incluyó una sesión de promoción de lectura y un recorrido por nuestros tres espacios de biblioteca, donde exploraron libros y promovieron el intercambio de saberes a través de la lectura.Durante el día compartimos merienda y almuerzo, y nuestros estudiantes demostraron con sus acciones los valores del colegio: respeto, responsabilidad, honestidad, autonomía y equidad.También hicimos entrega de donaciones de ropa, útiles escolares y juguetes recolectados por nuestra comunidad.Experiencias como esta nos recuerdan que la educación también se construye escuchando, compartiendo y aprendiendo de las culturas de nuestro territorio.

Our Class of 2002 alumnus, Ricardo González Sirtori, currently Senior Vice President of HR & Total Rewards at TelevisaUnivisión, the largest Spanish-language media company in the world, virtually joined students from Miami to deliver an inspiring session for the “The Big Family” Leadership Program titled “How to Choose Your Next Steps and Build a Purpose-Driven Career.” His executive experience in global companies inspired students to actively participate while learning valuable insights on the skills needed to develop world-class leadership.Special guest journalist Luis Carlos Vélez also joined the session, highlighting the importance of this initiative and encouraging students to continue contributing to the development of the country through their leadership and education.

Nuestro exalumno Promoción 2002, Ricardo González Sirtori, actual Senior Vice President of HR & Total Rewards en TelevisaUnivisión, la cadena de medios en español más grande del mundo, compartió virtualmente desde Miami una inspiradora sesión con los estudiantes del programa de liderazgo “The Big Family” titulada “Cómo elegir tus próximos pasos y construir una carrera con propósito”. Su destacada trayectoria en empresas globales motivó a los estudiantes, quienes participaron activamente y aprendieron valiosos consejos sobre las habilidades y competencias necesarias para ejercer un liderazgo de clase mundial. Como invitado especial participó el periodista Luis Carlos Vélez, quien resaltó esta iniciativa e invitó a los estudiantes a seguir construyendo país a través de su formación y liderazgo.

Within the framework of Cerrejón’s volunteer program “Together We Change Lives,” Coalba is proud to be an ally in the development of the Basic Practical English Course, aimed at strengthening the tourism sector in the municipality of Albania.

Professor Joann Vitek successfully launched the program, engaging members of the local tourism value chain. Last Wednesday, staff linked to the Albania Mining Integration Park, with a focus on tourism development, participated in a practical English training session led by our teacher.

These actions are part of Cerrejón’s volunteer initiative “Together We Change Lives,” which promotes tourism development in neighboring communities.

En el marco del voluntariado de Cerrejón “Juntos cambiamos vidas”, Coalba se suma como aliado para el desarrollo del Curso Práctico Básico de Inglés, orientado al fortalecimiento del sector turismo en el municipio de Albania.

La profesora Joann Vitek dio inicio con gran éxito a este programa, dirigido a miembros de la cadena de valor del turismo. El pasado miércoles, el personal vinculado al Parque de Integración Minera de Albania, con proyección al turismo, participó en una jornada de formación práctica en el idioma inglés, guiada por nuestra profesora.

Estas acciones se desarrollan en el marco del voluntariado “Juntos cambiamos vidas” de Cerrejón, una iniciativa que impulsa el desarrollo turístico en comunidades vecinas.
