American Corner Novi Sad AC in Novi Sad is a part of large network of American Corners in Serbia. The American Corner program is sponsored worldwide by the U.S. Department of State.

American Corner Novi Sad is one of the 7 American Corners in Serbia and one of the 400 Corners in over 60 countries world wide. Main goal of this center is to inform wider public about American culture, history and important events in the USA throughout available literature and magazines as well as through various programs we organize. American Corner Novi Sad was founded on October 6 2004 as a common project between American Embassy in Belgrade and Cultural Center of Novi Sad. Sponsored jointly by the U.S. Embassy, Belgrade and Novi Sad Cultural Center, the American Corner serves as an information outpost similar to a public library reference service. ACNS hosts a wide variety of events, such as:
- Conversational hours,
- Cultural programs and guest lectures from U.S.
- Presentations,
- Film and video showings,
- English Language Teachers Trainings
- Business English Conversation Program
- Book Club,
- Kids' Corner and story hours
- Workshops
and many other events. In the field of education, we provide student advising for study in U.S. and the American Corner serves as an alumni center where Serbian citizens who have been to the United States on exchange programs can gather and keep in touch with each other and with their American contacts. American Corner consists of a collection of books in English about the U.S. The book collection includes reference titles, works of fiction, business and government publications. American Corner also provides access to U.S. information through Internet access, audio and video products, and CD-ROMs. Access to American Corner’s collection is free and open to all interested citizens! STEP GENTLY: THE BODY AS A MAP OF SHARED LIFE

What does the body remember as time passes through it? Scars, freckles, bruises, gray hair, touch and intimacy - but also moments of uncertainty, change, and vulnerability.

Artist Milena Ivanović brings these small, intimate traces together in Step Gently, a series of black-and-white photographic collages exploring the body, time, and the dynamics of a shared life.

Working with photographs of fragments of her own body and her husband’s, taken over an extended period of time, Ivanović transforms familiar details into almost abstract landscapes. Skin and hair become records of time, while their changes open up a story of partnership - from tenderness and security to fear, pain, and uncertainty.

At the heart of the exhibition is a simple but difficult question: How do we stay together as we ourselves, our bodies, and the circumstances around us keep changing?

📍 American Corner Novi Sad
📅 Opening: October 9th at 7 PM
ℹ Exhibition open weekdays through October 26th

Come join us for the opening and take a closer look at a body not as something static, but as a living map of time, intimacy, and shared experience.
