Ethiopia to vote on June 1, 2026. More than 54 million registered voters will decide and vote for the party that best meets their legitimate political, economic, and social aspirations.

The media campaign circulating on social media is a manifestation of the envy stemming from Ethiopia's recent comprehensive transformation, from building a better political environment to implementing radical economic changes.

No one will be misled by these fake news; our voters are wise and know these deceptive social media campaigns.

Ethiopia's long-term development ambitions will be determined by its more than 54 million registered voters, not by fake news.

Ethiopia is scheduled to hold a free, fair and democratic general election on 1 June 2026.

Over 54 million registered voters are expected to vote, with the participation of 47 political parties and 80 independent candidates.

This election is not only a defining moment for but also a reflection of Africa’s democratic journay.

እንኳን ለ1447ኛው የዒድ አል አድሐ በዓል አደረሰን፣ አደረሳችሁ!

ስለዒድ አል-አድሐ “ዐረፋ” በዓል ስናስብ ሦስት ነገሮች ቀድመው ይታወሱናል። መስዕዋትነት፣ መታዘዝ እና መተጋገዝ። አባት ልጁን ለመስዕዋት ያቀረበበት፤ ልጅ የአባቱን ትዕዛዝ የፈጸመበት፤ ሙስሊሞች የመተጋገዝን እሴት ለዓለም የገለጡበት በዓል ስለሆነ “ዐረፋ” በሕዝበ-ሙስሊሙ ዘንድ ትልቅ ትርጉም አለው።

እስማኤል ለነብዩ ኢብራሂም የመጀመሪያ እና ተወዳጅ ልጃቸው ነው። አላህ (ሱ.ወ.) ይሄን ተወዳጅና የመጀመሪያ ልጅ እንዲሠዉለት ሲጠይቃቸው ታዘዙ እንጂ ወደኋላ አላሉም። ለመታዘዝ የሞከሩት ነገሩ ቀላል ሆኖ አይደለም። ልጅን ያህል ነገር መስዕዋት ማድረግ ምኑ ይቀላል? የአባትነት ስሜት ይተናነቃል። የሰይጣን ሹክሹክታ ይፈታተናል። የቤተዘመድን ወቀሳ እና የጎረቤትን አስተያየት መቋቋምም ይከብዳል። ነብዩ ኢብራሒም፥ በዚህ ሁሉ አጣብቂኝ ውስጥ አንድ ሐቅ ተገልጦላቸዋል። ከራስ ስሜት፣ ከሰው ሐሜት እና ከወዳጅ ፍላጎት የሚልቅ ታላቅ ዓላማ እንዳለ አምነዋል። ስለዚህም በፈተና ውስጥ ጸንተው ቆሙ፤ ቆራጥነታቸውም በተግባር ታየ።

ሀገር የምትገነባው ከራስ ጥቅም በላይ በሚያስቡ እና ከግላዊ ፍላጎታቸው በላይ ለመፈጸም በቆረጡ ዜጎች ነው። የሚወዱትን ነገር እንኳን ሳይቀር ለመሠዋት ዝግጁ የሆኑ ዜጎች ሲበዙላት ሀገር ትበረታለች። እስማኤላቸውን ለመስጠት የማያመነቱ ዜጎች የሞሉባት ሀገር ጽኑ ናት።

የለመድናቸው፣ የምንወዳቸው፣ የራሳችን ገንዘብ ያደረግናቸው ብዙ ነገሮች ይኖራሉ። ከእነዚህ የሚበልጥ ዓላማ ግን አለ፤ እሱም “ሀገርነት እና ሉአላዊነት” ይሰኛል። ሀገርነት የሚገነባው ከመውሰድ ይልቅ በመስጠት ነው። ሉአላዊነት የሚጸናው በፈተና ሳይወድቁ በመቆም፤ በወጀብ ሳይናወጡ መጓዝ በመቻል ነው።

የእውነት ኢትዮጵያ ሲያልፍላት ማየት የምንሻ ከሆነ ምኞታችን በተግባር ይገለጥ። የሀገር ኩስመና ካሳሰበን ለግዝፈቷ እንድከም። ያጎበጣትን የድህነት ቋጥኝ ለመሸከም ትከሻችንን እናመቻች። ጎተራዋ እንዲሞላ እጃችን አፈር ይንካ። የጠየመ ገጽዋ እንዲፈካ በሥራ ሌት-ተቀን እንሰለፍ። የተቀማ ክብሯ እስኪመለስ ድርሻችንን እንወጣ። ሀገር መውደዳችን ከልብ ከሆነ መስዕዋት ለመሆን አናመንታ።

የዐረፋ በዓል የመታዘዝና የመስዕዋት ብቻ ሳይሆን የመደጋገፍና የመተጋገዝ በዓል ጭምር ነው። በዐረፋ ከሚከናወነው እርድ አንድ ሦስተኛው ለምስኪኖች እንዲሰጥ የእስልምና አስተምህሮ ያዛል። በዐረፋ ሕዝበ-ሙስሊሙ ደስታና ሐዘኑን እየተጋራ በዓሉን ያከብራል። የዐረፋ እለት አንድም ሰው ተከፍቶ አያሳልፍም፤ በዐረፋ ሰሞን ማንም ሰው ተርቦና ተጠምቶ አያድርም። በዓሉ ትርጉም የሚሰጠው ሕዝበ-ሙስሊሙ ያለውን ተካፍሎ ሲያከብረው ነው። ሰዎች አስቸጋሪ ሁኔታን የሚሻገሩበት መፍትሄው መተሳሰብና መተጋገዝ እንደሆነ ከዐረፋ እንማራለን። ሀገርም ከፈተናዎችዋ በላይ እንድትሆን እኒህ እሴቶች ወሳኝ ናቸው።

ዐረፋ ማኅበረሰባዊ በዓል የሚባለው ለዚህ ነው። ሰዎች በግላቸው የሚያከብሩት አይደለም። ቤተሰቡ፣ ጎረቤቱ፣ ሠፈሩ፣ ከተማው የሚያከብረው በዓል ነው። ያላቸውና የሌላቸው፤ የሚችሉና የማይችሉ፤ ታላላቆችና ታናናሾች፤ ባለ ሥልጣናትና ተራ ዜጎች፣ በአንድነት የሚያከብሩት በዓል ነው። ሰው የሚኖረው በቤቱ ውስጥ አይደለም። በማኅበረሰቡ ውስጥ ነው።

ማኅበረሰባዊ ትሥሥርና ትብብር ለዜጎች እና ለሀገር ደኅንነት ወሳኝ ናቸው። ማኅበረሰባዊ ትሥሥር ስለሌሎች እንድናስብ፣ ስለሌሎች እንድንሠራ እና ስለ ሌሎች ዋጋ እንድንከፍል ያደርገናል። ራሳችንን በሌሎች ጫማ ላይ አቁመን እንድናይ ያስችለናል። የሁላችንም ሰላም፣ የሁላችንም ደኅንነት እና የሁላችንም ጥቅም ካልተከበረ በቀር የግላችንን ብቻ ልናስከብር እንደማንችል ያስገነዝበናል። ስለዚህም ማኅበራዊ ግዴታን እንደ ዜግነት ግዴታ ወስደን እንድንሠራ ያደርገናል።

ምርጫ ማኅበራዊና ዜግነታዊ ግዴታዎችን ከምንወጣባቸው የዴሞክራሲ መገንቢያ መሳሪያዎች መካከል ዋነኛው ነው። ያለ ሕዝብ ተሳትፎ ዴሞክራሲ አይሳካም። ያለ ምርጫም የሕዝብ ተሳትፎ ምሉዕ አይሆንም። የዴሞክራሲያችን መሰረት ጥንካሬው የሚለካው በተሳትፎአችን መጠን ነው።

የዘንድሮ ሀገራዊ ምርጫ ሀገረ-መንግሥታዊ ሥርዓታችን የሚጠነክርበት መሰረት ነው። የዴሞክራሲ ልምምዳችን አንድ ደረጃ ከፍ የሚልበት፤ የቀጣይ ዓመታት የሀገራችንን እጣ-ፈንታ የምንበይንበት፤ ከምንም በላይ ብዝሃ-ድምጽ የሚሰማበት የሕግ መወሰኛ ምክርቤት የምንመሰርትበት ወሳኝ አጋጣሚ ነው። በመሆኑም በዓሉን ስናከብር ዜግነታዊ ግዴታችንን ለመወጣት ብቻ ሳይሆን በካርዳችን ዴሞክራሲያዊ መብታችንን ለማረጋገጥ እየተዘጋጀን እንዲሆን ጥሪዬን አቀርባለሁ።

በድጋሚ መልካም የዐረፋ በዓል እንዲሆን እመኛለሁ!

May 25, 2026 (EIC): At its meeting held on May 25, 2026, the Ethiopian Investment Board passed a decision to open the freight forwarding sector to the participation of foreign investors.

Previously, under Investment Regulation No. 474/2020, foreign investors’ participation in the freight forwarding sector was restricted to joint ventures with domestic investors, while the shareholding participation of foreign investors was capped at 49%. As a result, the sector faced limitations in attracting the desired level of new investment inflows. The Board’s new decision is therefore expected to address these and similar challenges.

The decision is also anticipated to encourage both existing operators in the sector and new investors entering the market to place greater confidence in Ethiopia’s logistics sector.

According to the decision, opening the sector to foreign investors will help facilitate faster, more efficient, and modern logistics services, reduce national logistics costs, promote knowledge and technology transfer, and strengthen the capacity and competitiveness of domestic operators.

The Ethiopian Investment Commission noted that it is undertaking various reform measures to create a more conducive investment environment, and that this decision forms part of the government’s broader reform efforts.
