Dushanbe ~ As part of my Central Asia tour, it is a distinct honour to be in Tajikistan for the first official visit by a Foreign Minister.

Had a productive meeting with Foreign Minister Sirojiddin Muhriddin, where we discussed ways to strengthen - ties and expand practical cooperation in fields such as trade, investment, and education.

Within this framework, I had the pleasure to exchange with my counterpart a Memorandum of Cooperation in the Field of Higher Education and Research.

As an EU Member State, as well as the current rotating Presidency of the Council of the EU, I reaffirmed support for continued engagement between the European Union and Central Asia.

Regional security issues also featured prominently in our discussions.

Cyprus strongly condemns the missile and drone attacks on Kuwait and Bahrain, including the Kuwaiti airport terminal causing the death of one person and injuring dozens of civilians.

Such actions violate security and stability.

We call once again for de-escalation and return to diplomacy.

Ευχαριστούμε θερμά τα κράτη μέλη του Οργανισμού Ηνωμένων Εθνών που στήριξαν την κυπριακή υποψηφιότητα για την Προεδρία της 81ης Γενικής Συνέλευσης.

Ιδιαίτερες ευχαριστίες εκφράζουμε προς τον υποψήφιό μας,

, για το ξεκάθαρο όραμά του για μια Προεδρία αφοσιωμένη στην πρακτική πολυμέρεια, που να αποκαθιστά την εμπιστοσύνη, να ενισχύει την αποτελεσματικότητα και να διασφαλίζει ότι ο ΟΗΕ λειτουργεί προς όφελος όλων, το οποίο παρουσίασε ευρέως κατά τους τελευταίους μήνες.

Συγχαίρουμε τον Υπουργό Εξωτερικών του Μπαγκλαντές, Khalilur Rahman, για την εκλογή του και προσβλέπουμε σε μια Προεδρία προσηλωμένη στις αρχές της πολυμέρειας, της αμεροληψίας και της συλλογικής δράσης προς όφελος όλων των κρατών μελών.

Η Κύπρος θα συνεχίσει να εργάζεται ενεργά, με συνέπεια και υπευθυνότητα, για την ενίσχυση της πολυμερούς συνεργασίας και την προώθηση των αρχών και αξιών του ΟΗΕ, με σταθερή προσήλωση σε μια αποτελεσματική πολυμέρεια με επίκεντρο τα Ηνωμένα Έθνη.
