🚀🌍 EU Space Days 2026 in Nicosia provided an excellent platform for discussion on innovation, space travel, climate protection and economic development.
Our Advisor for Economic and Climate Policy and Protocol Affairs, Silke Rottler, 📸 pictured here with Andreas Andreou, Business Development and Technology Commercialization Officer at the Eratosthenes Centre of Excellence, attended the two-day event and held numerous discussions with representatives from the worlds of research, business and politics.
The event highlighted the importance of international cooperation for the development of innovative solutions in the fields of space, technology and sustainability.

The German Embassy was honoured to participate in the Language Centre Award Ceremony at the Cyprus University of Technology, celebrating outstanding students in foreign language learning. The First Secretary of the German Embassy, Ms. Stella Scherer, had the pleasure of presenting the award to the top-performing students in German, Yiorgos Xidias and Gabriel Simon for the academic year 2025/26. Congratulations to all award recipients for their dedication, hard work, and passion for languages.

The Chargé d’Affaires a.i. of the German Embassy, Mr. Hermann-Josef Conrads, joined Panel 2 – Economic Diplomacy in Action: Building Innovation Bridges Through Cyprus at Doers Summit 2026.

The invite-only panel, organized by KEBE – Cyprus Chamber of Commerce & Industry together with Doers Summit, brought together ambassadors, diplomats, ecosystem leaders, and senior business representatives to share practical experiences in cross-border collaboration and innovation.

Germany showcases 12 innovative companies at its Pavilion, while the Embassy actively mentors, connects, and fosters partnerships between German and Cypriot ecosystems. The discussion emphasized practical, conversational, real-world outcomes, rather than formal speeches or politics.

Cyprus’ strategic location and innovation-friendly environment make it a perfect hub for actionable economic diplomacy.

On May 12, 2026, the Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General and Head of the United Nations Peacekeeping Mission in Cyprus (UNFICYP), Mr. Khassim Diagne, awarded the “In the Service of Peace” Medal of Merit to twenty police officers from eight countries. Two Police Superintendents from Germany (North Rhine-Westphalia and Rhineland-Palatinate) were among the recipients of the medal. The German Embassy had the honor of presenting the certificates of the medal to our two distinguished police officers. We are very proud of the exemplary service of these highly professional officers of the 🇩🇪German Police!

The Embassy of Germany in Nicosia, in cooperation with the Turkish Cypriot German Association, participated in the 🇪🇺 Europe Day 🇪🇺 celebrations within the Turkish Cypriot Community on Friday. 🇩🇪 Our Chargé d’Affaires a.i., Mr. Dirk Roland Haupt, attended the event. Here are some impressions!

🇩🇪The Commissioner for Strategic Issues in European Policy, EU Coordination and EU External Relations, Ambassador Anja Wallau, met with the Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister, Taras Kachka, for a constructive bilateral discussion about Ukraine’s path towards Europe and how to strengthen EU-related cooperation between our two countries. The discussions focused on concrete steps in the EU enlargement process, as well as closer political and economic cooperation to support a stable, resilient and forward-looking Europe. We highly value the open dialog and our shared commitment to European integration, partnership and common values.🇪🇺🇺🇦

🇩🇪 International Parliamentary Scholarship (IPS) 2027 📣

The German Bundestag invites young graduates from Cyprus to apply for the IPS program! From 1 March to 31 July 2027, you’ll gain first-hand insight into parliamentary work, including three months in a Member of Parliament’s office, alongside workshops, seminars, and university courses in Berlin.
 
🌍 Be part of democracy in action, deepen your intercultural understanding, and build lasting international connections.
 
‼️ Requirements:
👉 Cypriot citizenship
👉 University degree (at least Bachelor’s)
👉 Very good German skills (minimum B2 level)
👉 Under 30 years old at the start of the program
