🇨🇾 Cyprus is ready for the King's Baton Relay! 🏅

Today, the official press conference announcing the Cyprus leg of the King's Baton Relay was held — and the excitement is already building ahead of the Baton's journey throughout Cyprus next week!

As our Deputy High Commissioner said at the event: "This relay is far more than a sporting countdown. Over 500 days, it has travelled across all 74 Commonwealth nations and territories, carrying with it a simple but powerful message: that sport can unite people, inspire communities, and reflect the values we share — inclusion, respect, and opportunity."

Cyprus holds a special place in this incredible journey. As one of the final stops before the Baton makes its way to the Glasgow for the Commonwealth Games opening ceremony on 23 July, this island is the perfect setting for the relay's conclusion — a true bridge between regions, and a proud champion of young people and sport.

From 20 May, the Baton will pass through some of Cyprus's most iconic sites, before leaving on 25 May and continuing its journey to the UK and on to Glasgow.

A highlight of today’s event was the unveiling of the Cypriot Baton. This year, each of the 74 Commonwealth nations and territories decorated their own baton to reflect their unique culture and identity — and Cyprus's design is truly something special!
