Celebrating the 5th anniversary of EUSPA
As we mark this milestone, we’re also taking a closer look at the meaning behind our logo.
The elements that make up the EUSPA logo consist of symbols of the agency’s enlarged scope but also a reminiscent of its legacy. Inspired by the shape of the Earth, the logo represents both, the agency’s connection with space and its mission to provide satellite-based services.
More specifically, the blue and yellow circular shapes symbolize EUSPA’s values of integrity and professionalism, but also the unity of the European Union, and the cooperation with multiple actors for the delivery of EU Space synergies. The opening in the circle on the right side symbolises EUSPA’s openness and its close collaboration with users and European partners.
Here’s to 5 years of EUSPA connecting space innovation with European citizens and turning ambition into impact.

Linking space to user needs
The EU Agency for the Space Programme (EUSPA) provides safe and performant space services, enabling synergies, EU innovation, sustainability, and security. To achieve this, EUSPA manages the Galileo and EGNOS programmes, develops markets for Copernicus services and data, is involved in secure satcom (GOVSATCOM & IRIS2), and carries out work in various areas targeted at Security, Research and Devel

The European Commission’s new State aid rules mark an important step towards faster investment in sustainable transport, removing barriers and accelerating deployment where it matters most.
For EUSPA, this is especially significant for rail. The new framework recognises the role of satellite navigation, enabling EGNOS and Galileo to be integrated into the European Rail Traffic Management System (ERTMS) with easier access to public funding.
This paves the way for a more efficient, interoperable and EU Space-enabled rail network, supporting innovation across both major and regional lines.

The Cultural Landscape of the Serra de Tramuntana
Located along a steep mountain range parallel to the north-western coast of Mallorca, this unique landscape reflects centuries of human adaptation.
Millennia of agriculture in a resource-scarce environment have shaped the terrain, creating a sophisticated system for water management rooted in feudal farming structures.
The area is characterised by agricultural terraces and interconnected waterworks, including mills, as well as dry-stone constructions and traditional farms.
With the Copernicus Programme World Heritage Hub, developed by EUSPA, sites like Serra de Tramuntana can be monitored through an interactive data viewer and tailored resources.

EUSPA activities accessible under new EU–Switzerland agreement
A new agreement between the European Union and the Swiss Confederation strengthens bilateral cooperation, opening the door for Switzerland to participate in key components of the EU Space Programme.
Under this framework, Switzerland will take part in activities related to Galileo and EGNOS implemented by EUSPA, gaining access to procurement and collaboration opportunities.
The agreement also enables Swiss representation in EUSPA governance structures, with observer status in both the Administrative Board and the Security Accreditation Board.

EU Satellite Systems in the Greater Caribbean: Navigating the Future
This week, our team is engaging with local communities and stakeholders in Bonaire to explore how EU Space technologies support disaster risk management across island environments.
From user-driven applications to live demonstrations, including Search and Rescue and Emergency Warning Satellite Service, the workshop highlights how satellite-based solutions respond to real needs on the ground.
We’re also proud to mark the inauguration of a new Galileo Sensor Station in Bonaire, strengthening European Union’s space infrastructure in the region.
Did you know? The GOVSATCOM Hub services are available to all EU Member States and can therefore also be delivered in territories linked to Member States, such as Bonaire. This supports the provision of GOVSATCOM services beyond mainland Europe and contributes to global service availability.
