Minister Macinka opened his visit to Moldova with talks with Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration Cristina Gherasimov. He reaffirmed the support of the Czech Republic for Moldova’s European ambitions and offered to share Czech experience from accession to the EU. The discussions also focused on Czech investments, particularly in the energy and media sectors. For example, Czech company Premier Energy provides energy distribution across approximately 70% of Moldova’s territory. Deputy Prime Minister Gherasimov thanked the Czech Republic for its long-term support and welcomed further involvement of Czech businesses in Moldova.

The first bilateral meeting between Foreign Minister Petr Macinka and his German counterpart Johann Wadephul confirmed the exceptionally strong level of Czech-German relations as well as a shared position on key issues facing Europe today, from migration and the future of European industry to strengthening NATO, stabilising Ukraine and maintaining a strong American presence on the European continent.

During the meeting, the Czech Foreign Minister stressed that a strong and stable Germany is an essential prerequisite for a strong Europe.

At the beginning of the talks, both ministers signed a memorandum extending the activities of the Czech-German Future Fund until 2037.

On the anniversary of the end of the Second World War, Foreign Minister Petr Macinka visited Plötzensee Memorial together with the Chairman of the Czech-German Discussion Forum, Jörg Nürnberger, and honoured the memory of 677 Czech patriots executed by the N**i regime. Among those murdered was also resistance member Inka Bernášková and journalist Julius Fučík.

Czechoslovak citizens formed one of the largest groups of foreign prisoners executed in the former N**i prison that once stood on the site of today’s memorial.

Their legacy continues to remind us of the price of freedom and the courage of those who gave their lives for it.

Today, we mark the 81st anniversary of the end of the Second World War in Europe, one of the most tragic conflicts in human history. With deep respect, we honour all those who sacrificed their lives in the fight for freedom and democracy. Victory Day serves as a lasting reminder that peace and freedom are not a given, but are values that must be both protected and defended.

Albania is a significant partner for us within the Western Balkans, and its success is also in our interest. This is why the foreign ministers of the S3 countries 🇨🇿🇸🇰🇦🇹, under the Slovak presidency, traveled to Tirana for a working meeting with the head of Albanian diplomacy, focused on further cooperation and the situation in the region. Deputy Prime Minister Petr Macinka praised the reforms that Albania has been pursuing in recent years, which can help the country in its efforts to join the European Union.

Petr Macinka led the Czech delegation at the EU–ASEAN ministerial meeting. 🇪🇺🌏

In his remarks, he said that the centre of the global economy is shifting to Asia. He stressed the need to cooperate without bloc divisions and to build reliable supply chains.

The Czech Republic aims to contribute in practical terms – by sharing technologies, supporting industrial modernisation, and promoting open trade that delivers results.

The ministers agreed that a pragmatic approach in politics delivers results and that free trade is key to prosperity. The discussion also focused on further strengthening economic cooperation.

The programme of Foreign Minister Petr Macinka in Brunei began with a meeting with his Cambodian counterpart Prak Sokhonn. 🇨🇿🇰🇭

The discussion focused on further development of bilateral relations, development and economic cooperation, tourism, and the regional security situation. The ministers also highlighted the Cambodian King’s exceptionally close ties to the Czech Republic, including his excellent command of the Czech language.
