Bundesweit wird jährlich im April der Girls/Boys Day gefeiert. An diesem Tag können Kinder und Jugendliche in verschiedene Berufe reinschnuppern, um die klischeefreie Berufswahl zu födern.🫶🏼
In der Pop-Up-Else haben zwei Jungs 3 Stunden in den Arbeitsalltag von Kinder- und Jugendbibliothekar*innen geschaut. Zusammen wurde die Bibliothek als Arbeitsort erkundet, eine Kita-Veranstaltung durchgeführt und beim Aufräumen und Einsortieren geholfen.

Wir Bibliothekarinnen bekamen einige Medientipps und Inspiration für die Gestaltung unserer Räume. Es war für alle Seiten eine spannende Erfahrung!🤴🏾🧙🏼‍♀️🧜🏻✨️

Every April, Girls’/Boys’ Day is celebrated nationwide. On this day, children and teenagers can get a taste of various professions. The main aim is to encourage career choices free from stereotypes.🫶🏼
At our Pop-Up-Else, two boys spent three hours observing the daily work of children’s and youth librarians.
Together, they explored the library as a workplace, organized an event for a daycare center, and helped with tidying up and sorting materials. We librarians received some media recommendations and inspiration for designing our spaces. It was an exciting experience for everyone involved! 🤴🏾🧙🏼‍♀️🧜🏻✨️

Today, the Pablo Neruda Library is hosting another children’s flea market—and the weather is absolutely beautiful!☀️ There’s plenty for you to sell and for the little ones to discover!

Wir sind noch ganz beseelt von gestern Abend! Thị Thanh Thảo Trần (Mitte links) stellte ihren bewegenden Debütroman “Menschen wie wir” in der Bezirkszentralbibliothek Pablo Neruda vor. Das Gespräch über eine Familiengeschichte zwischen Vietnam und Deutschland moderierte Georgina Fakunmoju (erste von rechts) Die Lesung ist Teil der Reihe „SheTalks“. Eine Lesereihe in Kooperation zwischen der Gleichstellungsbeauftragten Jamile da Silva e Silva (erste von links) und der Stadtbibliothek. Im Sinne des Zitats von Audre Lorde „Your Silence Will Not Protect You“ stellen FLINTA* Autor*innen ihre Werke aus vielfältigen Perspektiven vor.

We’re still buzzing from last night! Thị Thanh Thảo Trần (center left) presented her moving debut novel *People Like Us* at the Pablo Neruda District Central Library. The discussion about a family history spanning Vietnam and Germany was moderated by Georgina Fakunmoju (first from the right). The reading is part of the “SheTalks” series. A reading series organized in cooperation between the Equal Opportunity Officer Jamile da Silva e Silva (first from the left) and the City Library. In the spirit of Audre Lorde’s quote “Your Silence Will Not Protect You,” FLINTA* authors present their works from diverse perspectives.

In den vergangenen vier Wochen haben wir mithilfe zweier Kreisentscheide – einen für Friedrichshain und einen für Kreuzberg – und einem Bezirksentscheid unseren Kandidaten für den berlinweiten Vorlesewettbewerb auserkoren. 📚 Ein großer Applaus und ein herzlicher Glückwunsch geht an unseren Bezirksgewinner Jaron, der die Jury in beiden Runden überzeugen konnte. 🥳 Jetzt heißt es Daumen drücken für die nächste Runde, in der die Kandidat*innen aus allen Bezirken aufeinander treffen! 🤞🏼

Vielen lieben Dank auch an alle anderen Kandidat*innen, wir haben es sehr genossen euren ausgewählten Textstellen und tollen Vorlesestimmen zu lauschen. Vorzulesen kann viel Mut kosten und wir hoffen ihr seid alle stolz auf Euch. 💛

Over the past four weeks, we’ve selected our candidate for the citywide reading competition through two district-level rounds—one for Friedrichshain and one for Kreuzberg—and a citywide final. A big round of applause and heartfelt congratulations go to our citywide winner, Jaron, who impressed the jury in both rounds. 🥳 Now it’s time to keep our fingers crossed for the next round, where candidates from all districts will face off! 🤞🏼

A big thank you also to all the other candidates, we really enjoyed listening to your selected passages and wonderful reading voices. Reading aloud can take a lot of courage, and we hope you’re all proud of yourselves. 💛
