80 years ago today, on 8 May 1945, World War II ended. For us, this is a day of reflection and responsibility.
This war, characterized by racism, totalitarianism and violence, claimed millions of lives, including in Africa. These lives and the suffering of their survivors on our neighboring continent 🌍 are often forgotten. Today, we remember the many victims and mourn the unspeakable suffering. 80 years later, we remember not only the suffering, but also the responsibility to actively promote democracy, peace, freedom and the rule of law. That is one of the main driving forces of KAS activities in sub-Saharan Africa. This is why we are working with partners to promote these values - day after day, in political consulting, in education and in dialogue 🤜🤛🏿. Because we have learned from history what is at stake if these values are lost.
