URBAB is an independently run organization based in Berlin concerned with both planned and unplanned open spaces. Since 2008 we have been working on several projects, which focus their research on the specific qualities that make Berlin’s urban spaces so special. During these years we have built an “inverted guide” of Berlin; that is to say, a catalogue, which instead of containing the constructed

areas of the city, includes significant urban voids which are generally excluded from the tourist destinations, yet form an inherent part of Berlin and perhaps serve as the most perfect expression of our times. Since 2012 URBAB has been organizing bike tours, aimed at those interested in the specific and the unique history of this city. We offer tours that explore these urban voids, re-used spaces, parks and specific recreation grounds. We also provide workshops and tailored tours on request.

URBAB è un'organizzazione indipendente con sede a Berlino che si occupa di parchi e spazi urbani pianificati e non. Nel 2008 URBAB si è occupato di un progetto di ricerca sugli spazi vuoti e sui luoghi che sono stati riutilizzati per funzioni collettive, migliorando così l'uso della città e rendondo la città di Berlino uno speciale caso studio. Abbiamo osservato spazi vuoti o con una funzione temporanea, riconoscendo nella loro trasformazione un potenziale per aumentare la qualità degli ambienti urbani e di come il riutilizzo collettivo di questi siti migliori la qualità della vita urbana. Durante questi anni abbiamo costruito una guida di Berlino "al contrario", vale a dire un catalogo che raccoglie gli spazi urbani significativi della città anziché i pieni, i luoghi raccolti nella guida sono specifici e speciali, alcuni di questi stanno lentamente scomparendo per lasciare spazio a nuove costruzioni. Con vuoti ci riferiamo a spazi precedentemente occupati da un edificio, o una funzione "stabile" che appaiono ora vuoti urbani densi di storia. Dal 2012 URBAB organizza esplorazioni urbane di gruppo, rivolte a chiunque sia interessato alla storia, così specifica e unica di questa città. I Tours da noi proposti sono esplorazioni di parchi e spazi riutilizzati da parte dei cittadini con funzioni più o meno temporanee. Sosteniamo un turismo intelligente e sostenibile, e incoraggiamo l'uso della bicicletta, mezzo con il quale a berlino ci si muove agilmente e piacevolmente.

Radfahren: Berlin schaltet auf grüne Welle - ein bisschen - SPIEGEL ONLINE In Kopenhagen gibt es sie seit Jahren, nun hat auch Berlin eine grüne Welle für Radfahrer. Das Pilotprojekt auf einer Nebenstraße ist gut gemeint - nötiger wären fahrradfreundliche Ampelschaltungen aber an vielbefahrenen Kreuzungen.
