Lifting Bathukamma on head” is an important and beautiful part of the Bathukamma festival.

🌼 What It Means
• Bathukamma is a floral arrangement made with seasonal flowers, stacked in layers like a cone or temple gopuram.
• Women/Men irrespective of age, gender lift the Bathukamma on their heads during the final day of the festival — called Saddula Bathukamma.
• Carrying it on the head symbolizes respect, devotion, and celebration of womanhood and nature.

✨ The 79th Independence Day Celebrations & Bharat Parade were organized with great pride and unity, marking not only India’s glorious journey of freedom but also 25 years of the Indo-German Strategic Partnership.

Our founder president, Dr. Raghu Chaliganti, attended the event as chief guest, along with other prominent heads of the Indian diaspora, Deepak Patil and Ajay Chowdary. Dr. Chaliganti, who is also the Vice President of the East German Cricket Association (ODCV), appreciated Gujarati Samaj Berlin and its president, Mr. Samir Choksi, for successfully organizing the T10 Cricket Tournament.
More than 12 teams participated in this event. ICCB Berlin emerged as the winners of the inaugural tournament, with Reunited RCB finishing as runners-up.
During the event, our president highlighted the importance of infrastructure development for cricket and emphasized the need for unity within the cricket fraternity to gain greater recognition and support from the Berlin sports authorities for better sports facilities.
He also extended special appreciation to all the volunteers and umpires whose efforts made the tournament a smooth and enjoyable experience for everyone involved.
Once again, congratulations to Gujarati Samaj Berlin for this wonderful event — we hope they continue to organize many more such tournaments in the future.
