🚀 What if we fundamentally reimagined government?

Our 2027 Global Call for Participation is looking for Moonshot Ideas: ambitious concepts, bold goals and new directions for public institutions.

💡 How could decisions be made differently?
🤝 What new forms of collaboration could emerge?
🏛️ Which structures, rules or assumptions need to change?
🌍 How could government tackle long-term societal challenges?

And what would these changes mean for people’s everyday lives?

Your idea doesn’t need to be implemented yet. Early-stage concepts and developed visions are both welcome.

We welcome submissions from public institutions, civil society, non-profits, researchers and practitioners working for the public good. Private-sector applicants can join with an actively involved public-sector partner.

🌍 Selected ideas will become part of the 10th Creative Bureaucracy Festival in Berlin in June 2027.

👉 Explore the Moonshot Ideas strand and submit your vision via the link in our bio.

🎨 How can art change bureaucracy or even the state?

Calling all artists, collectives, cultural organisations and creative practitioners! Bring your perspective to the Creative Bureaucracy Festival 2027 through our Global Call for Participation.

From performance and film to literature, installations and participatory art: we welcome artistic works and developed concepts exploring bureaucracy, public institutions, democracy and people’s experiences of the state.

Your contribution can question, provoke or reveal, without needing to offer a practical solution. It should serve the public good, and no public-sector partner is required.

🌍 Selected contributions will join the festival in Berlin on 3 June 2027.

📅 Apply by 11 December 2026

💬 “You trust people not by broadcasting, but by broad listening.”

For Audrey Tang, Taiwan’s Cyber Ambassador and former Digital Minister, democratic renewal begins by creating spaces where citizens can contribute their knowledge, identify common ground and help shape decisions.

Her message is simple: “To give no trust is to get no trust.”

🏆 During the presentation of the Creative Bureaucracy Festival Award 2026, Tang explored how governments can empower smarter citizens, give public servants room to experiment and enable people to help shape the rules for emerging technologies.

The award was presented by Festival Co-Founder Sebastian Turner following a conversation moderated by Festival President and Co-Founder Charles Landry.

A new chapter begins. Let’s celebrate together? 🙌

🎉 In 2027, the Creative Bureaucracy Festival marks its 10th anniversary. Ten years of bold ideas, inspiring public servants, international exchange, and a shared commitment to better government.

A fitting anniversary deserves a special setting, so in 2027 we are opening the doors to our new venue:

📍 Alte Münze, Berlin
📅 2–3 June 2027

🌍 At a time of rapid change, creative and capable public institutions matter more than ever. We continue to champion a public sector that is resilient, imaginative, adaptable, and ready to act with purpose.

💡 Our mission remains clear: replacing “no, because” with “yes, if” and creating space for experimentation, learning, and new approaches to public service.

Join us as we celebrate the past ten years and shape what comes next.

Ticketing details will follow later this year.
