Hydrogen has long been hailed as a game-changer on the way into a fossil-free future. This story has been marked by both high expectations and real-world challenges. While not all promises have been fulfilled, hydrogen still has to play a transformative role in the energy transition. Together with the city of Hamburg, Clean Energy Wire | CLEW invites journalist from Europe to expert talks and field visits to take part in a four-day study trip, held alongside the Hydrogen Technology World Expo from 19 to 22 October 2025.

This year, the EU’s climate policy is at a critical stage: will the bloc’s pioneering Green Deal continue to keep climate action on top of its policy priorities – or will get driven out by European security concerns and an inflation-driven cost of living crisis?
Clean Energy Wire | CLEW is inviting Journalists based in Europe to get insights and background on the decisions that will shape European politics and policies during our study trip to Brussels from 24-26 March 2025. Deadline for applications is 9 February.

How to shift the trillions? The role of sustainable finance is one of the key questions on the road to climate neutrality. Journalists should play a critical role in this debate. However, many journalists working on environmental and climate topics lack in-depth knowledge of financial market mechanisms. On the other hand, economic and financial journalists often have little background knowledge about the legal and economic foundations and measures of international climate protection.
