Strong training partnerships build on shared expertise.

Two groups, two locations and six weeks of shared learning: over the past few months, we welcomed 20 junior technicians from the SunExpress T(h)rust Talent Program to Lufthansa Technical Training in Hamburg and Frankfurt.

Each group spent three weeks with us, working on structural maintenance, electrical components and engine technology. Developed specifically for SunExpress, the program combined focused theory sessions with practical exercises and operational insights. Based on the airline's training objectives, it was designed to build on the knowledge gained during the trainees' studies and first operational experiences, while refreshing and deepening key topics relevant to their future roles in Line Maintenance.

Several participants reflected on their time with us as part of SunExpress' interview series. They described the program as "a bridge between theory and practice" and valued the opportunity to discover different working methods, learn from instructors with many years of operational experience and gain insights into international aviation standards. Read more about their experiences in SunExpress' interview series on the SunExpress LinkedIn page.

Our connection with SunExpress goes back several years and includes customer training, instructor support and close cooperation between our teams. This project was another example of the trust and openness that have shaped our collaboration.

A special thank you to all trainees for their curiosity and commitment. We hope to see you again soon!

Aviation connects people across countries, cultures and continents. Training does the same.

Whether learning takes place in a classroom, through digital formats or directly at a customer location, the objective remains unchanged: preparing aviation professionals for the realities of their work.

Across our different training locations and learning environments, we share one commitment - delivering training that meets the same high standards of quality, expertise and practical relevance. Because aviation is global. And effective learning should be accessible wherever it is needed.

Different locations. One standard. One commitment to quality.

On 23 September 2026, Lufthansa Technical Training Philippines (LTTP), Philippine Airlines (PAL) and PAL Express signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) during MRO Asia. The agreement marks another step in their longstanding business relationship and reflects a shared commitment to closer collaboration in aircraft type and basic training.

The MOU was signed by Romulo L. Raras, Vice President - Aircraft Maintenance and Engineering at PAL Express; Robert H. Woods, Vice President Technical Operations Department at Philippine Airlines; with the support of Katherine L. Rivera, Assistant Vice President at Philippine Airlines and Laura Diedrich, Head of Lufthansa Technical Training Operations Asia-Pacific.

Built on more than 20 years of working together, this next chapter aims to strengthen training collaboration and create mutual value by bringing together experience, expertise, and a shared commitment to aviation training.

We are grateful for the trust and partnership developed over the years and excited about the opportunities that lie ahead.

Our instructors bring more than technical knowledge into the classroom. They bring years of hands-on experience from hangars, workshops and maintenance environments - including the challenges they have faced, the lessons they have learned and the stories that make complex topics easier to understand.

What keeps them engaged is a genuine interest in the subject and in finding the moment when something complex finally clicks for someone else.

Their role is not simply to explain what needs to be done. It is to help learners understand why it matters, encourage questions and connect technical content with the realities of working in aviation.

And learning does not travel in only one direction. Every course brings together different experiences, perspectives and generations. Our instructors pass on what they know, while remaining open to new questions, ideas and ways of learning themselves.

This exchange is what keeps knowledge alive and helps both learners and instructors continue to grow. Because the best instructors never stop learning - and never stop sharing what they know.

On 30 September, ten Lufthansa Technical Training colleagues from various functions across the company, including the majority from the Competence Center Type Training, had the opportunity to visit Lufthansa Cargo in Frankfurt, returning the visit that Cargo colleagues paid to LTT about 18 months ago. During their visit, they explored the aircraft maintenance hangars at Gate 23 and LTT’s training facilities and simulators at Gate 24.

Hosted by Lufthansa Cargo’s Commercial and Quality Management Hub Frankfurt team, the program began with an insightful presentation covering the company’s history, current business, and future developments. As one of the world’s leading air cargo carriers, Lufthansa Cargo operates a global network and plays a key role in connecting international supply chains and markets.

The highlight of the day was a guided tour through both the historic and modern warehouse facilities, providing fascinating insights into Lufthansa Cargo’s logistics operations. Participants also visited operational areas and experienced firsthand the scale, complexity, and precision required to handle air freight every day.
The visit concluded with a joint lunch and plenty of time for personal exchange.

A big thank-you to the Commercial and Quality Management Hub Frankfurt team for the warm welcome, excellent organization, and valuable insights. Visits like these strengthen collaboration and mutual understanding across the Lufthansa Group.
