This week, our Executive Director, Alberto Brunori, took part in the 7th EU–LAC Academic Summit, held in Porto, a space for dialogue and reflection aimed at further advancing cooperation between Latin America, the Caribbean and the European Union.
The meeting highlighted the importance of moving towards a common bi-regional area for higher education, science, technology and innovation, promoting the mobility of students, teaching staff and researchers, the exchange of knowledge, and closer collaboration between universities, research centres, public institutions and the private sector.
In this context, the EU-LAC International Foundation can play a key role as a platform for dialogue and cooperation between the two regions, bringing together governments, academia, civil society and other stakeholders to strengthen the bi-regional partnership. Its work helps ensure that ideas and recommendations emerging from academia inform political dialogue and can be translated into concrete cooperation initiatives.
We would like to thank the Summit organisers, Portucalense UPT, da Maia - UMAIA, Associação Portuguesa do Ensino Superior Privado (AESP) and Foro Académico Permanente ALC-UE (FAP ALC-UE), for giving us the opportunity to share our work as a mechanism for bi-regional cooperation.
