*HIS LIGHT TO YOUR WORLD*

*Friday, October 23rd*
*Pastor Chris*

_*But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light (1 Peter 2:9).*_

Notice the tenses in the scripture we just read; it emphasises a present reality: You've been called out of darkness into God’s marvellous light. This must become your consciousness. You're not trying to get into the light; you live there now.

This is consistent with what the Bible says in Colossians 1:12-13, _*“Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light: Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son.”*_ Darkness has no dominion or jurisdiction over you because you've been translated into the Kingdom of light.

Now, in that marvellous light, sickness has no place. Fear cannot triumph. Defeat, poverty, sin, and death are vanquished. You’re forever in glory and dominion. Hallelujah! Also, notice that God didn’t merely stop at telling you where you now live; He also reveals why He brought you there: to show forth His praises.

The Amplified Classic of the opening scripture renders it beautifully: _*"...that you may set forth the wonderful deeds and display the virtues and perfections of Him Who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light."*_ God’s purpose is to build His character in you, to reveal His glory in you. You become the walking glory of the Lord Jesus Christ, the expression of His beauty to your world.

He wants you to display His virtues and perfections in your family, workplace, business, profession, and everywhere. If you couldn't do it, He wouldn't have told you to. He brought you into His marvellous light to make you His light to your world: _*“Ye are the light of the world…”*_ (Matthew 5:14).

*PRAYER*

*Dear Father, I thank you for calling me out of darkness into your marvellous light. I live in the consciousness of this glorious reality today, displaying your virtues, perfections, excellence, and glory to my world. My life is the expression of your beauty and character, and through me, many are brought into your marvellous light and the knowledge of your saving grace, in Jesus' Name. Amen.*

*RIGHT LIVING BEGINS WITH RIGHTEOUSNESS*

*Thursday, October 22nd*
*Pastor Chris*

_*For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him (2 Corinthians 5:21).*_

Many Christians sincerely love God. They worship passionately, pray fervently, and strive to live holy lives. Yet, despite their sincerity, they continue trying to attain what God has already given them in Christ. They believe that if they pray more, do more good works, or become more disciplined, they'll eventually become righteous. But that's not the Gospel.

The Bible makes a clear distinction between righteousness and right living. Righteousness is your nature in Christ; right living is the expression of that nature. In other words, right living is the result of righteousness, not the means of attaining it.

If righteousness could be achieved through human effort, Jesus Christ would never have needed to come. His death, burial, and resurrection made available what no amount of personal striving could ever produce. The moment you were born again, you were made the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus. It wasn't a reward for good behaviour or years of faithful service; it was God's gracious gift to you in Christ (Romans 5:17).

2 Corinthians 5:21 says, _*“For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.”*_ Because you've been made righteous, you now have the capacity to live right. Just as a good tree naturally bears good fruits, your recreated spirit produces fruits and works of righteousness because that's your nature.

God's order is always from the inside out. He first gave you His righteousness as your nature, and now He expects that nature to find expression in your thoughts, words, and actions. This is why the Christian life isn't sustained by self-effort but by the life of Christ in you, manifested through your daily walk.

Never measure your standing before God by your “performance.” Your righteous standing is founded on the finished works of Christ: _*“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast”*_ (Ephesians 2:8-9).

As you grow in the knowledge of who you are in Him, your conduct increasingly reflects His righteousness that's already at work within you. That’s because right living is the inevitable result of righteousness.

*PRAYER*

*Dear Father, I thank you for making me your righteousness in Christ Jesus. I live in the reality of my new life and nature in Christ, producing the works and fruits of righteousness through the power of your Spirit. My life is the expression of your divine nature, excellence, holiness and victory, in Jesus' Name. Amen.*

*THE STRONG MAN HAS BEEN BOUND*

*Wednesday, October 21st*

*Pastor Chris*

_*Or else how can one enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he first bind the strong man? and then he will spoil his house (Matthew 12:29).*_

The Lord Jesus unveiled a profound spiritual principle when He spoke about binding the strong man. He explained that before a strong man's house can be plundered, the strong man himself must first be bound. In those words, He revealed His mission and ultimate triumph over Satan.

For generations, humanity lived under the influence of darkness. Satan exercised dominion over the world system and held men captive through fear, deception, and bo***ge. But God had a plan. The Lord Jesus came to confront the adversary and dismantle his authority.

The ministry of Jesus was a continual demonstration of His superiority over the devil. He cast out demons, healed the sick, delivered the oppressed, and exercised dominion over every work of darkness. His death on the Cross and triumphant resurrection brought that victory to its culmination. The adversary who had held mankind in bo***ge was defeated.

The Bible says, _*“…For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil”*_ (1 John 3:8). This understanding is the reason we don’t negotiate with Satan or his cohorts of darkness: we cast them out: _*“And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils…”*_ (Mark 16:17).

You're not confronting a powerful enemy. You're standing in the authority of the One who has already subdued him. Through Christ Jesus, your victory over Satan was a decisive one—absolute victory. Therefore, refuse to live in fear of the devil or his works. Live in the consciousness of Christ's triumph.

*CONFESSION*

*In Christ, I have defeated Satan and the forces of darkness. I walk in the dominion and power of the resurrected Christ, and in the glorious liberty of the sons of God. I’m superior to Satan, his systems and his structures. I’m established forever in the victory of Christ. Amen.*

HIS TRIUMPH OVER DARKNESS

Monday, October 19th

Pastor Chris Oyakhilome DSc DSc DD

📖And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it (Colossians 2:15).

The Lord Jesus didn’t only die for our sins; the Bible also reveals His absolute triumph over Satan and the forces of darkness. Colossians 2:15 (WNT) paints a vivid picture of this victory. It says, "And the hostile princes and rulers He shook off from Himself, and boldly displayed them as His conquests, when by the Cross He triumphed over them."

The Lord Jesus stripped principalities and powers of their authority, defeated the forces of darkness, and openly displayed them as conquered foes. Having borne the judgment for sin, He secured eternal salvation for mankind. He broke the chains that held humanity captive and emerged from death as the triumphant Conqueror.

The Bible presents one of the aspects of redemption as the work of a conquering king. When a victorious king invades a territory and defeats its oppressors, he doesn't negotiate with them or pay a ransom for the prisoners. He conquers the enemy and sets the captives free.

This helps us understand an important dimension of Christ's redemptive work: He didn’t pay to purchase man’s freedom from Satan. Rather, He defeated him. Before going to the Cross, Jesus lived a sinless life and demonstrated His mastery over the world and its ruler—Satan, the god of this world. He conquered the world because He first conquered the god of this world.

This victory was not for Himself but for you. He conquered the enemy and gave you the victory. The Scriptures tell us that before a strong man's house can be spoiled, the strong man must first be bound (Mark 3:27). The Lord Jesus bound Satan, the strong man. He defeated Satan in his own territory, broke the chains of darkness, and liberated mankind from his dominion.

Today, you're not fighting or striving for victory; you're living in the victory of Christ. In Christ, you've been translated out of the jurisdiction of darkness and brought into God's Kingdom of light. Therefore, walk in confidence and dominion, knowing that in Christ you’ve conquered Satan, overcome the world, and crucified the flesh.

Dear Father, thank you for the victory you've given me in Christ Jesus. I rejoice in the knowledge that in Christ, I conquered Satan, overcame the world, and have come into liberty and triumph. I walk in dominion today, conscious of my authority in Christ and my life of ever-increasing glory, unending victory and abundant grace, in Jesus' Name. Amen.

*THE LEGAL SIDE OF OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS*

*Saturday, October 17th*
*Pastor Chris*

_*And all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus (Romans 3:24 NIV).*_

Having understood from our previous study the importance of righteousness and its vital place in the Christian life, it's important to understand how this righteousness became yours. The Apostle Paul gives us a profound insight in Romans 3:24 when he says we’re justified freely by God’s grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.

Notice the word "justified." What does it mean to be justified? To be justified means to be declared righteous. This is the legal side of our righteousness. It is God's verdict concerning everyone who believes in Jesus Christ. This is the acquittal. This is a legal pronouncement from God Himself. The Judge of all the earth has declared you righteous.

Think about the significance of that. God didn't merely overlook your sins or decide to ignore your failures. He declared you righteous. He gave a verdict in your favour. This is why the Christian can stand before God without guilt, condemnation, or a sense of inferiority. His confidence rests not in personal performance but in God's declaration.

Romans 3:26 says, _*“To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus.”*_ The beauty of the Gospel is that this justification came freely by God’s grace. Righteousness is a gift of grace. We didn't qualify for it. God's favour was extended to us because of His love. It’s based on what Christ has done in your behalf.

This understanding transforms your relationship with God. Instead of striving to become accepted, you realise you've already been accepted in Christ: _*“To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved”*_ (Ephesians 1:6). Walk in this reality.

Refuse to be moved by Satan’s accusations, feelings of unworthiness, or memories of past mistakes. God's verdict concerning you has already been established. Through Jesus Christ, you've been acquitted and declared righteous: _*“…you have been washed, you have been made holy, you have been given righteousness in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and in the Spirit of our God”*_ (1 Corinthians 6:11 BBE). Let this truth dominate your thinking and shape your walk with God.

*CONFESSION*

*I’ve been washed, made holy, righteous, and sanctified in Christ Jesus. I rejoice in the reality of my justification. I refuse to live under condemnation or guilt because God’s Word has revealed that Christ is my righteousness. Therefore, I live boldly in God’s presence, enjoying the full blessings of the Gospel and my right standing with God. Hallelujah!*

*‭‭Romans 8:33-34 KJV Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God's elect? It is God that justifieth. [34] Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us.*

_*For every one that useth milk is unskilful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe (Hebrews 5:13).*_

There are Christians who sincerely love the Lord yet struggle to exercise consistent victory in their lives. They pray, fast and desire to grow spiritually but often find themselves intimidated by circumstances or continually battling the same challenges over and over again. The reason is not always a lack of zeal; often, it's a lack of understanding of righteousness.

We read in our opening scripture that _*“…every one that useth milk is unskilful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe.”*_ This shows that spiritual maturity is connected to an understanding of righteousness. The one who doesn't understand the doctrine of righteousness remains spiritually unskilled.

You may know many things about Christianity, but if you don’t have the right understanding of your righteousness in Christ, you won't be proficient in the use of God's Word to maintain the life of dominion and constant victories we’ve been given in Christ. The lack of understanding of righteousness is the reason some Christians approach God with a consciousness of guilt, unworthiness, or condemnation.

What God wants is for you to be established in righteousness. Walk in the light of your righteousness. Stand boldly on God's Word. Never wonder whether or not you qualify for God’s blessings or deserve His help. Such thinking robs you of confidence and hinders the effective exercise of your faith.

Righteousness-consciousness gives you boldness. It gives you the confidence to stand in God’s presence without fear, inferiority, or condemnation. When you understand that you've been made the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus, you won’t relate to God on the basis of your performance but on the basis of Christ's perfection.

This is why every Christian must be established in the doctrine of righteousness. Study and meditate on the truth that Christ is your righteousness. Let it become the consciousness of your spirit because the more you understand who you are in Christ, the more effective you'll be in exercising your authority in Him.

You were not made righteous because of your good works, nor do you maintain righteousness through your human effort. Therefore, refuse to live with a sense of inadequacy or spiritual insecurity. Stand firm in the righteousness God has given you and exercise your dominion with confidence.

*CONFESSION*

*I’m the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus, and I walk in the consciousness of my right standing with God and exercise my authority boldly in Christ. God’s Word builds my faith and prevails in my life today. I understand and live in the reality of my new life in Christ. Amen.*

*THE REALITY OF CHRISTIANITY*

*Thursday, October 15th*
*Pastor Chris*

_*But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit (1 Corinthians 6:17).*_

In our previous study, we reviewed what it means to give your life to Christ. It means much more than merely "surrendering" your life to God. This understanding is important because many people still interpret salvation as the act of “surrendering” themselves to God. But Christianity is far more than that.

When a woman gets married, she doesn't merely surrender herself to her husband. She identifies with him. She comes into his home, takes his name, and becomes one with him. In much the same way, when you gave your life to Christ, you were brought into union with Him. You became a partaker of His life.

This is why the Bible says, _*“But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit”*_ (1 Corinthians 6:17). It’s for the same reason it tells us we’re associates of the Godkind: _*“Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature...”*_ (2 Peter 1:4).

Don’t view Christianity through the lens of religion. The Lord Jesus didn't come merely to improve your conduct or introduce you to a new religious system. He came to give us the God-life. God's own nature has been imparted to your spirit. This is the essence of the New Birth and beauty of the Gospel. The divine life has supplanted the human life.

You've become one with the Lord in a living and inseparable relationship. His victory is your victory. His righteousness is your righteousness. His life is now your life. Walk in the consciousness of this divine union. You're not “following” Christ from a distance; you're in Him, and He is in you. That's the reality of Christianity.

*PRAYER*

*Dear Father, thank you for the divine life you've imparted to my spirit and my inseparable union with you through Christ. I walk in the consciousness of this union, manifesting the life, wisdom, righteousness, and glory of Christ to my world, in Jesus' Name. Amen.*

WHAT IT MEANS TO GIVE YOUR LIFE TO CHRIST

Wednesday, October 14th

Pastor Chris

And the LORD said unto Noah, Come thou and all thy house into the ark... (Genesis 7:1).

I once watched a television interview where the guest, a renowned preacher, was asked a simple question: What exactly does it mean to give your life to Christ? I expected he would be asked the question because throughout the interview, he made several references to “giving your life to Christ.” His response was that giving your life to Christ meant allowing God to rule your life, and then starting to read the Bible. That moment highlighted something important: many who use the expression “give your life to Christ” may not truly understand what it means. But this is too important a subject to leave undefined because it relates to the very heart of the Gospel.

To give your life to Christ doesn't merely mean deciding to live differently or turning over a new leaf. It means identifying your life with His life. It means placing your life into His hands and receiving the salvation He accomplished for you. Jesus Christ, by your confession and affirmation becomes Lord of your life; you acknowledging that His death, burial, and resurrection were for your sake.

A beautiful picture of this is found in Noah's ark. In the days of Noah, safety wasn't found outside the ark; salvation was in the ark. Everyone who entered the ark was preserved from destruction. In the same way, Christ is God's Ark of salvation. When you give your life to Him, you enter into Him. You come into the place of safety, deliverance, and eternal life that God has provided through Jesus Christ.

This is why salvation is not merely adopting a religion or subscribing to a set of beliefs. It's entering into Christ. The Bible says, _*“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature...”*_ (2 Corinthians 5:17). Notice the expression “in Christ.” That's the reality of salvation. You've been brought into Him by the new birth.

You're not struggling to save yourself or trying to earn God's acceptance. You've been brought into Christ, and in Him you have righteousness, peace, protection and eternal life. This is the blessing and security of everyone who’s given their lives to Christ.

Dear Father, thank you for your grace that has brought salvation to all men through Jesus Christ. I rejoice that I've been brought into Christ and made one with Him. I live in the security, righteousness, and eternal life that you've provided through Him. Thank you for making me a new creation and establishing me in your grace forever, in Jesus' Name. Amen.

*UNDERSTAND WHO IS BEING ADDRESSED*

*Tuesday, October 13th*
*Pastor Chris*

_*Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law... (Romans 3:19).*_

One of the most important principles for understanding the Scriptures is recognising contexts and target audience. Some become confused in their study of God's Word when they read verses without considering their actual context, audience, and purpose.

Not everything written in Scripture applies to the new creation. The Apostle Paul demonstrated this clearly in Romans chapter three. After quoting several passages that described the condition of those under the Law, he made a remarkable statement: _*“Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law...”*_ (Romans 3:19).

Did you notice that? The Law spoke to those who were under its jurisdiction. Paul wanted this understanding to be clearly established, and it’s vital because many have read the declaration, _*“...There is none righteous, no, not one”*_ (Romans 3:10), and assumed it applies equally to everyone today, including those who are born again. But Paul wasn't describing the new creation in Christ. He was presenting the Law's verdict on those who lived under the old covenant. The context makes this unmistakably clear.

When you understand who is being addressed, the Scriptures become clearer and more meaningful. You learn to distinguish between the Law and grace, between the Old Testament and the New Testament, and between what was spoken concerning man's condition apart from Christ and what is true of those who are now in Christ. This prevents confusion and helps you to rightly comprehend and apprehend God's truth.

The Bible is a progressive unveiling of God's redemptive plan. Therefore, it's important to follow the flow of revelation in the Scriptures. Don't isolate a verse from its context and build your understanding around it. Study the whole counsel of God and allow Scripture to interpret Scripture. The Bible says, _*“Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth”*_ (2 Timothy 2:15).

As a child of God, always study and receive the Word in the light of your identity in Christ and the realities of the new creation. That's how God's Word produces faith, confidence and victories in your life.

*PRAYER*

*Dear Father, thank you for the light of your Word and the ministry of the Holy Spirit who guides me into all truth. As I study the Scriptures, I receive understanding and insight into mysteries and realities of the Kingdom. I rightly comprehend, apprehend, and apply your Word, and I walk in the blessings, liberty and righteousness that belong to me in Christ Jesus. Amen.*
