"TIMES MOVES ON, BUT ON THIS BRIDGE, THEIR MEMORY STANDS STILL." 𖣑⏳❤️ During the recent Operation Market Garden commemorations, Dutch and American participants gathered at the Lt. John S. Thompson Bridge to remember the liberation of Grave in 1944. Together, they honored the fierce bravery of the 82nd Airborne Division paratroopers who fought right where they stood. Launched in September 1944, Operation Market Garden was one of the largest airborne operations of World War II, designed to seize key bridges in the Netherlands and open a route into Germany with the 82nd Airborne Division playing a central role, fighting to secure critical terrain under intense conditions. This moving ceremony wasn't just about looking back—it highlighted the powerful, enduring bond between the United States and the Netherlands. Most importantly, it showed how younger generations are stepping up to carry the torch, ensuring the legacy of those who fought for our liberty is never forgotten.

"MISSION DRIVEN INNOVATION" EUCOM HACKATHON! 🤖 🧠💥 - From Sept. 8-11, U.S. European Command proved that when you clear the path for pure focus, game-changing innovation happens in days—not decades. USEUCOM teamed up with the NDIA Global Defense Hackathon to host a four-day theater defense sprint. They put 30+ military operators from U.S. Naval Forces Europe-Africa/U.S. Sixth Fleet, U.S. Air Forces in Europe and Air Forces Africa, and U.S. Marine Forces Europe and Africa in the same room as elite data scientists.
The mission? Crushing nine complex operational use cases using live theater datasets.
The result? Rapidly prototyped solutions that sharpen our decision dominance and operational readiness across Europe. Turns out, when you give smart people the right data, you get code-driven capabilities at the speed of relevance.

"REALIZING REGIONAL RETURNS" 2026 A5 CHOD CONFERENCE. 🛡️ 🤝 🌍 U.S. Air Force Gen. Alexus Grynkewich, commander of U.S. European Command and Supreme Allied Commander Europe, joined Lt. Gen. Tihomir Kundid, chief of the General Staff of the Croatian Armed Forces, and military leaders from across the Western Balkans for the 2026 U.S.-Adriatic Charter Chiefs of Defense Conference in Zadar, Croatia.

👥 Moving from dialogue to delivery under the theme "Realizing Regional Returns," leaders from Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Montenegro, North Macedonia, and observer nations advanced regional readiness.

📋 Key outcomes included endorsing a new Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief framework to streamline cross-border crisis coordination, alongside a finalized 2026–2027 A5 Roadmap for upcoming multilateral training.

💬 “This conference demonstrated that the Adriatic Charter turns dialogue into real impact,” said Grynkewich. “Through practical regional action, A5 partners are strengthening readiness, resilience, interoperability, and burden sharing, making the region, NATO, and Europe’s collective defense even stronger.”

🛡️🇺🇸 Additional attendees included representatives from the U.S. State Partnership Program, whose continuing engagement strengthens relationships, interoperability, and readiness across the region.

🌊 ⚔️ "SEAS-SING" THE HIGH NORTH: RECAPPING 9 DAYS OF NORTHERN VIKING 2026! 🛡️⚓ For nine days, more than 1,200 personnel from the U.S., host nation Iceland, and across the NATO Alliance operated side-by-side in the air, on land, and at sea. This iteration also marked a major milestone: celebrating 75 years of the U.S.-Iceland Bilateral Defense Agreement! 25th ANNIVERSARY OF SEPT. 11 - 🏢🎗️🇺🇸 🕊️Twenty-five years ago, the tragedy of September 11, 2001, reshaped global security and reinforced the vital importance of our international alliances. Today, U.S. European Command pauses to honor the 2,977 innocent lives lost, including our fallen colleagues at the Pentagon. Though decades have passed, we are reminded that the same sky connects us all across continents and oceans. Today, our personnel across the theater join the global community to look up, reflect, and ensure that the legacy of those we lost is carried forward through our continued vigilance, readiness, and shared security. We will never forget the sacrifices made, nor the enduring solidarity that continues to defend our freedom.
