Happy New Year 🎉. We've gone a bit quiet since the elections, however this project's far from dead. We had hoped to announce our first of 4+ Sustainable day's we're planning for 2022 around now. However due to the current COVID-19 situation, the first events been postponed till sometime in the spring.
However that doesn't mean we can't all do our own bit towards a more sustainable future :-). Here are some tips for you to live a more sustainable lifestyle in 2022 🌱
Please comment if you have other suggestions :-)
Environmental New Year's Resolutions for 2022 Now is the time of year when people reflect on their habits and lifestyle choices. Many want to improve themselves and their impact on the world around them. Consider including some sustainable goals when setting your new year's resolutions for 2022.

We got the results this morning 363 votes, far short of the 5000 we needed to get elected though given how little time and experience we had we're actually very happy with the results! Thanks everyone who voted for us! ❤️🗳️
We know this was a tight election and many of the other small lists also struggled to attract attention and votes.
We got a lot of good feedback on our ideas and a lot of great experience from it. :-)
Though the elections are over for four year's this project is not. It was always our idea that Bæredygtig Samfund would serve as platform for promoting and creating small green, community initiatives in Copenhagen and going forward that's what we'll do!
Maybe in 4 years we'll be back in election mode, in the meantime stay tuned to see what else we've got planned :-) 🌍🌱♻️

The day is upon us its time to get out and vote! 🗳😀
If you've never tried before, no need to worry everything will be explained to you at the voting centre. However if you like to be prepared here's a brief explanation of what to expect!
When you arrive you'll show them your ID and they will register you in the system (yellow card is sufficient) then they will give you two pieces of paper a WHITE one and a YELLOW one.
The Yellow one is for the Regional elections (The region you live in if you're in Copenhagen its Region Capital)
The White one is for the Municipality (Kommune) this is for voting for your local representatives in the city council.
This is also where you'll find us! We're letter Æ which is near the bottom of the list (as it is in the Danish alphabet) you will find us under our Danish name Bæredygtigt Samfund.
If you'd like to vote for us put a cross in the box next to our name! 🗳🗳🗳
Remember your vote is not wasted if we're not elected. If we're not elected all our votes will be shared with our allies Enhedslisten (The Red Green Alliance) and SF (Socialist Peoples party) along with a few other minor parties like our own.

We made it into the Copenhagen Post one day before the elections: https://cphpost.dk/?p=129286
Though we don't agree with half of what's written by the journalist responsible. He mixed our answers with his own opinions.
Local Elections 2021: Catching up with the new green party on the campaign trail - The Post As far as Bæredygtigt samfund is concerned, everyone is on the same level. After all, nobody is immune to the threat of climate change

Check your physical mailbox, your voting cards should have arrived! 🗳️🗳️
These card's are what you take with you when you go to vote next on the 16th!! They also tell you where and when to vote (usually from around 8 - 20 somewhere nearby often schools). Then all you need to do is show up and cast your vote! If you've never tried before the staff at the polling station will explain everything and show you where you vote etc.
If you don't have time on the 16th. You can also vote early in many of the cities libraries you can see the list here: https://www.kk.dk/politik/valg/brevstemmeafgivning
We don't mind who you vote for, just vote!!

Remember most of you can vote in these local elections! :-)🗳️ Ideally we'd hope you'd also vote for us but regardless of your political leanings or preferences, just get out and vote. You might have limited availability to influence national politics if you're not Danish, however anyone who's lived here 4 more years or is an EU citizen can vote in local elections and the decisions made there impact your lives in Copenhagen directly.
The Municipality of Copenhagen and International House have made a helpful informational video explaining how it works and who can vote: https://youtu.be/rd8ieZrwrWk
Check it out and remember to vote on the 16th!

Last night we were pleased to participate in a political debate at KU, designed to introduce foreign students to Danish politics and get them interested in voting. 🗳️
It was a really interesting evening and nice to see almost all the parties represented and to hear their plans. We are in alignment with most of them especially on the left though none have quite the same focus on creating community spaces and encouraging sharing that we do! ♻️🌍🌱
We we're also really pleased our little party got a chance to speak and spread our message and that all the parties are serious about getting the expat community to vote and making an effort to engage with them :-).

On Friday we went out on the street to talk to people, server some soup made of surplus food donated by Fællesskabet i København- Free fridge CPH and spread our message :-). We didn't manage to hand out as many flyers as we'd wanted our soup made a few people very happy 🍜
