Strengthening partnerships for a more food-secure Dominica!

This morning, Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries, Blue and Green Economy, Hon. Roland Royer, met with the Executive Members of National Association of Youth in Agriculture (NAYA) for a productive check-in meeting focused on ongoing support for young farmers across the island.

Discussions centered on enhancing collaboration between the Ministry and NAYA, improving coordination, and identifying opportunities to further empower youth in agriculture. Together, the Ministry and NAYA are working to strengthen food and nutrition security, sustain livelihoods, and create a more resilient agricultural sector for Dominica.

The Ministry remains committed to supporting the next generation of farmers as we build a stronger and more sustainable future for all.

Agriculture in Education in Action!

The Ministry of Agriculture continues to inspire and equip the next generation of agricultural professionals through hands-on learning and community outreach.

In these photos, students of the Dominica State College (DSC) Agriculture Programme are engaged in both theoretical and practical on-farm training, learning about proper fertilization techniques and the safe use of farm equipment.

We also highlight our outreach efforts at Dominica Grammar School's Career Day, where students were introduced to the many exciting opportunities available within the agricultural sector.

By connecting classroom knowledge with real-world experience, we are cultivating the skills, innovation, and passion needed to strengthen Dominica’s agricultural future.

Accountability in action!

Happening now

At the 2026 IICA Accountability Seminar, IICA Representative Gregg Rawlins officially handed over the 2025–2026 Accountability Report to the Ministry of Agriculture, reaffirming IICA's commitment to transparency, partnership, and sustainable agricultural development.

Reflecting on the importance of accountability, Hon. Roland Royer Minister noted, "Accountability is important but it is not only about detailing what has been done. It is also about looking inwardly at our own report card—recognizing our strengths, acknowledging our weaknesses, and using those lessons to progress positively and continuously improve on these. The Ministry continues to be grateful to IICA as a trusted developmental partner."

The seminar provided an opportunity to review achievements, reflect on challenges, and strengthen collaboration in support of a more resilient and sustainable agricultural sector.

Happy Monday All!

These photos capture an important step in the process as fishers officially signed their contracts to receive climate-resilient fishing vessels under the EALCRP initiative.

Last week, the Fisheries Division distributed 10 vessels, bringing the total number distributed under the programme to 44. The beneficiary agreement signing represents a commitment to strengthening livelihoods, promoting sustainable fisheries development, and building resilience to the impacts of climate change.

Together, we continue to invest in a stronger and more resilient fisheries sector.

Big catch, big results!

Layou fisherman Ezlee Edmond, proudly landed an impressive 145 lb Yellowfin Tuna yesterday, helping to keep his customers supplied with fresh, high-quality fish while ensuring his business remains viable and productive.

Like other fishermen around the island this success also reflects the ongoing work of the Fisheries Division within the Ministry which continues to support fishers through initiatives aimed at improving operations and strengthening resilience, including the provision of fiberglass climate-resilient fishing boats.

Together, we continue to build a stronger, safer, and more sustainable fisheries sector for Dominica.
