In 2015, the United Nations General Assembly declared February 11 as the International Day of Women and Girls in Science (IDWGS). This year, the day is celebrated under the theme Unpacking STEM Careers: Her Voice in Science.

2025 marks the 10th anniversary of IDWGS, and achieving gender equality in science is essential for creating a better future for everyone.

According to the United Nations, bridging the gap in science necessitates the promotion of role models to inspire girls, supporting women's advancement through targeted programs, and fostering inclusive environments through policies and actions that encourage inclusion, diversity, and equity.
