It is with profound sadness that we mourn the passing of Professor Cheikh Touhami, a remarkable scholar, surgeon, and friend whose life was dedicated to knowledge, service, and humanity.
Professor Touhami was much more than an academic leader — he was a mentor, a guide, and a source of inspiration to all who had the privilege of knowing him. As Chancellor of Sidi Bel Abbès University, he led with vision, humility, and kindness, always believing that education was not only about learning but about shaping character and serving one’s community.
In his work alongside Professor Boudraa at the University of Oran/Algeria Faculty of Medicine, he demonstrated exceptional dedication to the art and science of surgery. His compassion for his patients and his patience with his students were the hallmarks of a true teacher — one who led by example, with both skill and heart.
Those who knew Professor Touhami will remember his quiet strength, his unwavering sense of duty, and his generosity of spirit. He was a man who gave his time and wisdom freely, who believed deeply in the potential of others, and who found joy in seeing his students and colleagues succeed.
His passing leaves a great void in our academic and medical community, but his legacy will endure — in the lives he touched, the students he inspired, and the values he embodied every day.
May his soul rest in eternal peace, and may we honor his memory by carrying forward his spirit of dedication, integrity, and compassion.
