Event: The Government of Ecuador has confirmed there are 28 cases of COVID-19 in Ecuador to date and has implemented the following travel restrictions. These restrictions could change at any time and with little warning:
• Beginning Sunday, March 15 at 11:59 p.m., all foreigners will be prohibited from arriving via air, land, or sea. At this time we understand the restriction will be in place for the following 21 days.
• Beginning Monday, March 16 at 11:59 p.m., all Ecuadorians or residents will also be prohibited from arriving via air, land, or sea. At this time we understand the restriction will be in place for the following 21 days.
• The Government of Ecuador has imposed a 14-day pre-visit self-isolation requirement on anyone traveling to the Galapagos.
• Currently the Government of Ecuador has not imposed restrictions on individuals wishing to depart the country.
• U.S. citizens who wish to depart Ecuador should contact commercial airlines directly.
• The U.S. Embassy in Quito and Consulate General in Guayaquil remain open for American Citizen Services during regular business hours.

The U.S. Consulate General in Guayaquil is pleased to announce that representatives from the Consulate will offer notarial services and accept passport applications in the City of Cuenca on Wednesday, June 12, 2019.

Forms:
Please bring applications correctly filled out, along with originals and photocopies of citizenship documents (passport, birth certificate and age progression photos for children under the age of 16 and IDs of parents). Payment:
***IMPORTANT: Payment for notarial and passport applications can only be accepted in the form of a cashier’s check (in Spanish “CHEQUE DE GERENCIA” or “CHEQUE DE EMERGENCIA”) from any Ecuadorian bank. The cashier’s check should be written out to “U.S. Disbursing Officer” and may be obtained from any Ecuadorian bank if one has an account at that bank. We regret that we are not able to accept any other type of payment during our outreach visits. If your bank requires the Embassy’s RUC, it is 1791845986001. For information on the fees for each type of service, please visit https://ec.usembassy.gov/u-s-citizen-services/passports/fees/. Each notarial service has a fee of $50.00 per consul’s signature. Please keep in mind that some documents may require more than one signature; if you seek to notarize such a document, please come prepared to pay $50.00 for each signature.
