Media Freedom Coalition statement on World Press Freedom Day 2026 - Media Freedom Coalition On this World Press Freedom Day, we, the undersigned members of the Media Freedom Coalition, recognise the vital yet increasingly perilous role that journalists and media workers play in conflict situations, and the important link between a free media and both global and national security.

Ambassador of Canada, Craig Kowalik, met with Chancellor Armando Muyolema of Universidad Amawtay Wasi Universidad Amawtay Wasi to advance new partnerships with University of Regina and First Nations University of Canada.

Together, Canada and Ecuador are strengthening intercultural education and collaboration with Indigenous communities.
