Embassy of Nepal Hosts Nepal–Egypt Tea and Coffee Business Forum in Cairo
The Embassy of Nepal organized a virtual Business-to-Business (B2B) meeting between Nepali and Egyptian tea and coffee stakeholders in Cairo today. The event brought together representatives from government institutions, chambers of commerce, business communities, and industry experts to explore opportunities for trade, investment, and collaboration in the tea and coffee sectors. The event was also used to commemorate International Tea Day, which is on the 21st of May.
H.E. Mr. Sushil K. Lamsal, Ambassador of Nepal to Egypt, delivered welcome remarks highlighting the strong potential for enhancing tea and coffee business between Nepal and Egypt. Distinguished speakers from the Cairo Chamber of Commerce, including Major General Salah El-Abd and Dr. Ahmed Ghareeb, emphasized Egypt's growing market for tea and coffee and interest in high-quality products.
Dr. Gaurav Luitel, representative of the National Tea and Coffee Development Board of Nepal, presented an overview of Nepal's premium tea and specialty coffee, underscoring their unique quality and export potential.
The programme featured a video presentation showcasing the heritage, cultivation practices, and distinctive qualities of Nepali tea and coffee, followed by detailed presentations on each sector, highlighting Nepal's orthodox teas and high-value specialty coffee.
An interactive session provided a platform for participants to engage directly, exchange ideas, and discuss practical pathways for collaboration, including import partnerships, branding opportunities, and market entry strategies.
The event concluded with a shared commitment from both sides to continue dialogue and pursue concrete business engagements.
The programme was moderated by DCM Ms. Indira Aryal, with interpretation support provided by Second Secretary Mr. Ritesh Shah (Nepali–English) and Ms. Rahma (Arabic–English).
استضافت سفارة نيبال في القاهرة اليوم منتدى الأعمال النيبالي–المصري للشاي والقهوة
حيث نظّمت اجتماعًا افتراضيًا للأعمال بين الشركات (B2B) جمع أصحاب المصلحة من قطاعي الشاي والقهوة في نيبال ومصر. وشارك في الفعالية ممثلون عن المؤسسات الحكومية، وغرف التجارة، ومجتمعات الأعمال، وخبراء الصناعة، بهدف استكشاف فرص التجارة والاستثمار والتعاون في قطاعي الشاي والقهوة. كما أُقيمت الفعالية إحياءً لليوم الدولي للشاي الذي يُصادف 21 مايو.
وألقى سعادة السيد سوشيل ك. لامسال، سفير نيبال لدى مصر، كلمة ترحيبية سلّط فيها الضوء على الإمكانات الكبيرة لتعزيز التعاون التجاري في مجالي الشاي والقهوة بين نيبال ومصر. كما أكد المتحدثون البارزون من غرفة تجارة القاهرة، بمن فيهم اللواء صلاح العبد والدكتور أحمد غريب، على النمو المتزايد لسوق الشاي والقهوة في مصر واهتمامه بالمنتجات عالية الجودة.
وقدّم الدكتور غوراف لويتل، ممثل المجلس الوطني لتطوير الشاي والقهوة في نيبال، عرضًا حول الشاي الفاخر والقهوة المتخصصة في نيبال، مشددًا على جودتهما الفريدة وإمكاناتهما التصديرية.
وتضمّن البرنامج عرض فيديو استعرض تراث الشاي والقهوة في نيبال، وأساليب زراعتهما، وخصائصهما المميزة، تلاه عرضان تفصيليان حول كل قطاع، مع التركيز على أنواع الشاي الأرثوذكسي النيبالي والقهوة المتخصصة عالية القيمة.
كما أتاحَت الجلسة التفاعلية للمشاركين فرصة للتواصل المباشر وتبادل الأفكار ومناقشة السبل العملية للتعاون، بما في ذلك شراكات الاستيراد، وفرص العلامات التجارية، واستراتيجيات دخول الأسواق.
واختُتمت الفعالية بتأكيد مشترك من الجانبين على مواصلة الحوار والعمل نحو إطلاق شراكات تجارية ملموسة.
وقد أدارت البرنامج نائبة رئيس البعثة السيدة إنديرا أريال، فيما قدّم السكرتير الثاني السيد ريتيش شاه خدمات الترجمة بين النيبالية والإنجليزية، وقدّمت السيدة رحمة الترجمة بين العربية والإنجليزية.

The Embassy of Nepal in Cairo hosted a SHOM Coffee Morning, graciously hosted by Ms. Muna Bhattarai Lamsal, Spouse of His Excellency the Ambassador of Nepal to Egypt.
Spouses of Heads of Missions from various representative countries graced the occasion with their presence.
A special presentation was delivered on the architectural heritage of the Kathmandu Valley by Prof. Dr. Silvia Covarino and Prof. Dr. Manlio Michieletto, both distinguished faculty members of the Architecture and Urban Design Program at the German University in Cairo.
Prof. Dr. Silvia Covarino is an urban planner specializing in participatory design and settlement upgrading across Europe, Central America, the Mediterranean, and the Middle East.
Prof. Dr. Manlio Michieletto is an architect focused on architectural heritage and satellite city development, with professional experience in Italy, Africa, and Egypt.
Having recently returned from a visit to Nepal, the professors shared their insightful observations on the rich history of Nepali architecture, from its ancient temples to the enduring cultural traditions that continue to shape the Kathmandu Valley today.
His Excellency the Ambassador of Nepal concluded the event by extending his sincere thanks to both professors for their valuable contribution. He emphasized the significance of the dialogue between the past and the present, noting that Nepal's architecture is never truly finished. Every generation builds upon the existing heritage – whether restoring it, developing it, or recreating it through a modernist perspective of the past.
The gathering was a warm celebration of cultural exchange, heritage, and the lasting friendships among the diplomatic community in Cairo.
استضافت سفارة نيبال في القاهرة "قهوة الصباح" لمجموعة زوجات رؤساء البعثات الدبلوماسية (SHOM)، برعاية كريمة من السيدة مونا بهاتاراي لامسال، حرم سعادة سفير نيبال لدى مصر.
وقد شرّفت الفعالية بحضورها زوجات رؤساء البعثات الدبلوماسية من مختلف الدول الممثلة في القاهرة.
تضمن الحدث عرضاً تقديماً خاصاً حول التراث المعماري لوادي كاتماندو، قدمه كل من الأستاذة الدكتورة سيلفيا كوفارينو والأستاذ الدكتور مانليو ميكيليتو، وهما عضوان بارزان في هيئة التدريس ببرنامج العمارة والتصميم العمراني بالجامعة الألمانية بالقاهرة.
تُعد الدكتورة سيلفيا كوفارينو مخططة عمرانية متخصصة في التصميم التشاركي وتطوير المستوطنات البشرية عبر أوروبا وأمريكا الوسطى ومنطقة البحر الأبيض المتوسط والشرق الأوسط.
بينما يُعد الدكتور مانليو ميكيليتو مهندساً معمارياً يركز في أبحاثه على التراث المعماري وتطوير المدن التابعة، وله خبرة مهنية واسعة في إيطاليا وأفريقيا ومصر.
وبعد عودتهما مؤخراً من زيارة إلى نيبال، شارك الأستاذان ملاحظاتهما الثاقبة حول التاريخ الغني للعمارة النيبالية، بدءاً من معابدها القديمة وصولاً إلى التقاليد الثقافية الراسخة التي لا تزال تشكل ملامح وادي كاتماندو اليوم.
واختتم سعادة سفير نيبال الفعالية بالتوجه بخالص الشكر للأستاذين على مساهمتهما القيمة، مؤكداً على أهمية الحوار بين الماضي والحاضر، وأشار إلى أن العمارة في نيبال لا تكتمل أبداً؛ فكل جيل يبني على التراث القائم – سواء بالترميم، أو التطوير، أو إعادة الإحياء من خلال رؤية حداثية للماضي.
ساد التجمع أجواء دافئة احتفت بالتبادل الثقافي والتراث، وعكست روابط الصداقة الدائمة بين أعضاء السلك الدبلوماسي في القاهرة.

Embassy organized a Labour Awareness Program
On the occasion of the 2570th Buddha Jayanti and International Labour Day (May 1), the Embassy of Nepal, in collaboration with the members of Nepali diaspora, organized a Labour Awareness Program today.
Delivering the welcome remarks, H.E. Mr. Sushil Kumar Lamsal, Ambassador of Nepal to Egypt, highlighted the significance of both occasions. He encouraged reflection on the teachings of Lord Buddha-peace, compassion, and tolerance. He stressed the importance of informed, safe, and dignified employment for Nepali nationals abroad, and reaffirmed the Embassy’s commitment to providing consular support and safeguarding the welfare of Nepali workers in Egypt.
The program featured brief presentations by Second Secretary Mr. Ritesh Sah and Third Secretary Mr. Gajendra Rai. The presentations covered passport and consular services, labour-related support, workers’ rights, and remittance issues.
In the following interactive question-and-answer session, participants actively shared their queries, suggestions, and experiences which were addressed by the Embassy officials.
The program concluded with a note of appreciation to all participants for their active engagement. Program served as a celebration of Buddha Jayanti, highlighting the enduring relevance of Lord Buddha, while reinforcing the importance of dignity of labour and awareness of workers’ rights.
نظّمت السفارة برنامجًا للتوعية العمالية
بمناسبة الذكرى الـ2570 لميلاد بوذا وعيد العمال العالمي يوم 1 مايو نظّمت سفارة نيبال، بالتعاون مع أفراد من الجالية النيبالية، اليوم برنامجًا للتوعية العمالية.
وفي كلمته الترحيبية، سلّط سعادة السيد سوشيل كومار لامسال، سفير نيبال لدى مصر، الضوء على أهمية هاتين المناسبتين. وشجّع على التأمل في تعاليم اللورد بوذا—السلام، والرحمة، والتسامح. كما شدّد على أهمية العمل الواعي والآمن والكريم للمواطنين النيباليين في الخارج، مؤكّدًا التزام السفارة بتقديم الدعم القنصلي وحماية رفاه العمال النيباليين في مصر.
وتضمّن البرنامج عروضًا تقديمية موجزة قدّمها السكرتير الثاني السيد ريتيش ساه والسكرتير الثالث السيد غاجيندرا راي. وشملت العروض خدمات الجوازات والخدمات القنصلية، والدعم المتعلق بالعمل، وحقوق العمال، وقضايا التحويلات المالية.
وفي جلسة تفاعلية لاحقة للأسئلة والأجوبة، شارك المشاركون بنشاط استفساراتهم ومقترحاتهم وتجاربهم، حيث أجاب عليها مسؤولو السفارة.
واختُتم البرنامج بتوجيه الشكر لجميع المشاركين على تفاعلهم البنّاء. وقد شكّل البرنامج احتفالًا بميلاد بوذا، مبرزًا الأهمية المستمرة لتعاليمه، إلى جانب التأكيد على أهمية كرامة العمل وضرورة الوعي بحقوق العمال.

Nepal-Egypt Friendship Run was held in Cairo to mark Mt. Everest Day and International Wellness Day
In celebration of the Mount Everest Day and the International Wellness Day, a 5 km Friendship Run was organized today by the Embassy of Nepal in Cairo in collaboration with the Ministry of Local Development Environment of Egypt and the Wadi Degla Protectorate. The Nepal-Egypt Friendship Run under the theme “From the Himalayas to the Nile— Let’s Run for a Greener Future”, was formally inaugurated by the Ambassador of Nepal to Egypt, H.E. Mr. Sushil Kumar Lamsal, along with the Guest of Honour Dr. Mohamed Youssef, Head of the Central Administration for Protected Areas at the Egyptian Ministry of Local Development and Environment.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Ambassador Lamsal welcomed all participants in the Friendship Run and thanked them for their enthusiastic presence. He highlighted the significance of Mt. Everest Day, commemorating the first ascent of the world’s highest peak in 1953, as a symbol of human determination and partnership. He also underscored the importance of the recently proclaimed International Wellness Day, emphasizing wellness as a holistic concept that encompasses physical, mental, emotional, social and ecological well-being.
The Ambassador drew attention to climate change as a shared global challenge, noting its visible impacts in both Nepal and Egypt, from Himalayan glacier melt to increasing water scarcity and risks to the Nile Delta. Stressing the interconnected nature of these challenges, he called for collective action and solidarity in building a resilient and sustainable future for all.
Highlighting Nepal’s rich traditions of yoga, meditation, and harmony with nature, Ambassador Lamsal emphasized the strong link between environmental protection and human wellness. Today, we run together in solidarity to highlight the profound nexus between environment and wellness, recognizing that a healthy planet is essential to healthy lives, he said.
Dr. Youssef appreciated the organization of the event and the strong message it conveys on environmental awareness and sustainability. He reaffirmed Egypt’s commitment to environment protection and building a greener future, while commending Nepal’s efforts and leadership in promoting sustainability initiatives.
The unique 5 km trail passed through the natural setting of Wadi Degla Protectorate, a protected desert valley stretching approximately 30 km. It preserves desert ecosystems and wildlife native to the region.
More than 350 participants, including diplomats, students, local athletes, and members of the Nepali community, joined the event.

أُقيم سباق الصداقة بين نيبال ومصر في القاهرة بمناسبة يوم جبل إيفرست واليوم الدولي للعافية
في إطار الاحتفال بيوم جبل إيفرست واليوم الدولي للعافية، نظّمت سفارة نيبال في القاهرة اليوم سباق صداقة لمسافة 5 كيلومترات، بالتعاون مع وزارة التنمية المحلية والبيئة في مصر ومحمية وادي دجلة. وأُقيم سباق الصداقة النيبالي-المصري تحت شعار «من جبال الهيمالايا إلى نهر النيل — لنجري من أجل مستقبل أكثر خضرة»، حيث افتتحه رسميًا سفير نيبال لدى مصر، سعادة السيد سوشيل كومار لامسال، إلى جانب ضيف الشرف الدكتور محمد يوسف، رئيس الإدارة المركزية للمناطق المحمية بوزارة التنمية المحلية والبيئة المصرية.
وفي كلمته خلال حفل الافتتاح، رحّب السفير لامسال بجميع المشاركين في سباق الصداقة، ووجّه لهم الشكر على حضورهم الحماسي. وأشار إلى أهمية يوم جبل إيفرست، الذي يخلّد أول صعود إلى أعلى قمة في العالم عام 1953، باعتباره رمزًا للإصرار البشري والشراكة. كما شدّد على أهمية اليوم الدولي للعافية الذي أُعلن عنه مؤخرًا، مؤكدًا أن العافية مفهوم شامل يشمل الصحة البدنية والعقلية والعاطفية والاجتماعية والبيئية.
ولفت السفير الانتباه إلى تغيّر المناخ باعتباره تحديًا عالميًا مشتركًا، مشيرًا إلى آثاره الواضحة في كل من نيبال ومصر، من ذوبان الأنهار الجليدية في الهيمالايا إلى تزايد ندرة المياه والمخاطر التي تهدد دلتا النيل. ومع تأكيده على الترابط بين هذه التحديات، دعا إلى العمل الجماعي والتضامن لبناء مستقبل مرن ومستدام للجميع.
كما أبرز السفير تقاليد نيبال الغنية في اليوغا والتأمل والانسجام مع الطبيعة، مؤكدًا العلاقة الوثيقة بين حماية البيئة وصحة الإنسان. وقال: «نحن نجري اليوم معًا في روح من التضامن لتسليط الضوء على الترابط العميق بين البيئة والعافية، إدراكًا منا بأن كوكبًا صحيًا هو أساس حياة صحية».
من جانبه، أعرب الدكتور يوسف عن تقديره لتنظيم هذا الحدث والرسالة القوية التي يحملها بشأن الوعي البيئي والاستدامة، مؤكّدًا التزام مصر بحماية البيئة وبناء مستقبل أكثر خضرة، ومشيدًا بجهود نيبال وريادتها في تعزيز مبادرات الاستدامة.
وقد مرّ مسار السباق، الذي بلغ طوله 5 كيلومترات، عبر البيئة الطبيعية لمحمية وادي دجلة، وهي وادٍ صحراوي محمي يمتد لنحو 30 كيلومترًا، ويحافظ على النظم البيئية الصحراوية والحياة البرية الأصلية في المنطقة.
وشارك في الفعالية أكثر من 350 شخصًا، من بينهم دبلوماسيون وطلاب ورياضيون محليون وأفراد من الجالية النيبالية.
