Veľvyslanectvo Slovenskej republiky 🇸🇰 v Káhire v rámci Európskeho 🇪🇺 filmového festivalu 🎞️🎬🎥 prezentovalo egyptským divákom slovenský film "Kôň". Premietanie sa konalo dňa 25. mája 2026 v priestoroch Instituto Cervantes v Alexandrii a stretlo sa s pozitívnym ohlasom publika.
Súčasťou podujatia bola aj diskusia s filmovými kritikmi a divákmi. Prítomní potvrdili, že slovenská filmová tvorba má čo ponúknuť pre egyptského diváka a vyjadrili poďakovanie za kultúrny zážitok.

The Embassy of the Slovak Republic 🇸🇰 in Cairo within the European 🇪🇺 Film Festival 🎞️🎬🎥, presented to Egyptian viewers a Slovak movie “The Horse”. The screening took place on May 25, 2026 in the premises of the Instituto Cervantes in Alexandria and was met with a positive response from the audience.
The event was also followed by a discussion with film critics and viewers. Participants confirmed that Slovak filmmaking has something to present to Egyptian audience and they expressed their gratitude for cultural experiences.

Africa Day is the annual commemoration of the foundation of the Organisation of African Unity on 25 May 1963.
It is celebrated in various countries on the African continent, as well as around the world.

Film je premietaný v rámci Európskeho 🇪🇺 filmového festivalu 🎥, ktorý prebieha v dňoch 3. mája 2026 do 9. júna 2026 v Alexandrii a v rámci ktorého je prezentovaných 27 filmov z 21 krajín.
Súčasťou podujatia je dňa 24. mája 2026 o 18.00 hod. v Instituto Cervantes v Alexandrii aj premietanie filmu Vlny českého režiséra Jiřího Mádla aj s obsadením slovenských 🇸🇰 hercov.
Filmy sú premietané s anglickými titulkami 🗯️.
Vstup na podujatie sú bezplatný. 👍

The Embassy of the Slovak Republic in Cairo 🇸🇰 invites you to a screening of the Slovak movie Horse 🐴, directed by Martin Šulík
Join us in Alexandria on May 25, 2026 to watch a movie 🎬 that will take you to the Christmas season, where a circus 🎪horse causes a stir in a young teacher's apartment, reveals real interpersonal relationships and helps him find new love.
The film is screened as part of the European 🇪🇺 Film Festival 🎥, which runs from May 3, 2026 to June 9, 2026 in Alexandria and presents 27 films from 21 countries.
The event will also include a screening of the movie Waves by Czech director Jiří Mádl on May 24, 2026 at 6 p.m. at the Instituto Cervantes, Alexandria also with a cast of Slovak 🇸🇰 actors.
The films are screened with English subtitles 🗯️.
Tickets to the event are free. 👍

Sme radi, že aj počas tohto akademického roka sme na pôde Veľvyslanectva Slovenskej republiky 🇸🇰 v Káhire mohli privítať skupinu študentov📚slovenského jazyka spolu s ich slovenskou lektorkou p. Danušou Čižmíkovou.
Cieľom stretnutia bolo spoznať 🇪🇬 študentov, ktorí v regióne Blízkeho východu a Afriky ako jediní študujú slovenský jazyk na katedre slovanských jazykov na Ain Shams Univerzite v Káhire, podporiť ich motiváciu v ďalšom štúdiu, informovať ich o možnostiach ďalšieho štúdia na Slovensku, ich zapojenia do spoločných aktivít a zároveň získať spätnú väzbu na realizovanú výučbu.
Študentom prajeme veľa úspechov v štúdiu a veríme, že sa s nimi budeme môcť spoločne stretnúť aj na ich promóciách. 👩‍🎓🧑‍🎓
Potešili by sme sa, ak by sa rady záujemcov o štúdium 🇸🇰 jazyka rozšírili o ďalších študentov.

We are pleased that also during this academic year, we could welcome at the Embassy of the Slovak Republic 🇸🇰 in Cairo, a group of Slovak language students 📚, together with their Slovak lecturer, Ms. Danuša Čižmíková.
The aim of the meeting was to get to know 🇪🇬 students who are the only ones in the Middle East and Africa region studying Slovak language at the Department of Slavic Languages at the Ain Shams University in Cairo, to support their motivation in their further studies, inform them about the possibilities of studies in Slovakia and their involvement in joint activities and also to obtain their feedback how the studies are carried out.
We wish the students success in their studies, and we believe that we will be able to meet them together at their graduations. 👩‍🎓🧑‍🎓
We would be pleased if the ranks of those interested in studying the 🇸🇰 language would increase.

Na spoločnej 🇸🇰🇪🇬 výstave kresleného humoru pod názvom „Od hieroglyfov ku karikatúre“ si návštevníci Egyptskej verejnej knižnice MISR Public Library "MPL" مكتبة مصر العامة môžu pozrieť viac ako 8️⃣0️⃣ autentických umeleckých diel, ktoré cez satiru, vtip a vizuálne stvárnenie rozprávajú svoje príbehy.

Slovenskí umelci zároveň absolvovali v Egypte rad stretnutí s predstaviteľmi egyptskej a sudánskej umeleckej obce, so zástupcami Egyptskej asociácie karikaturistov Egyptian Caricature Association الجمعية المصرية للكاريكاتير a nadáciou Abla Art.

Súčasťou podujatia bol aj workshop pod názvom „Význam karikatúry na Slovensku“. Potešujúcim bol záujem veľkého počtu nádejných talentovaných umelcov 🎨, ktorí využili príležitosť priamej interakcie a praktického stvárnenia myšlienok do kresieb spolu s autormi vystavovaných diel. Veríme, že realizované aktivity a nadviazané kontakty budú inšpiráciou k ďalšej umeleckej spolupráci 🤝medzi našimi krajinami.

Výstavu, ktorá bola slávnostne otvorená 13. mája, si môže verejnosť pozrieť až do 27. mája, počas návštevných hodín knižnice.

Výstava "Od Hieroglyfov po kreslený humor" bola podporená z verejných zdrojov 🇸🇰 Fondom na podporu umenia a 🇸🇰 autorskou spoločnosťou LITA a tiež projektom kultúrnej diplomacie MZVEZ SR.

At the joint 🇸🇰🇪🇬 cartoon humor exhibition titled From Hieroglyphs to Cartoons, visitors to the Misr Public Library MISR Public Library MISR Public Library "MPL" مكتبة مصر العامة can view more than 8️⃣0️⃣ original works of art that tell their stories through satire, humor, and visual expression.

Slovak artists also took part in a series of meetings with representatives of the Egyptian and Sudanese art communities, the Egyptian Caricature Association Egyptian Caricature Association الجمعية المصرية للكاريكاتيرand the Abla Art Foundation.

The programme included a workshop under the title The Meaning of Caricatures in Slovakia. We were pleased to see the interest of a large number of promising talented artists 🎨who took the opportunity of direct interaction and practical exercise of bringing the ideas into drawings under the leadership of authors of the exhibited works. We believe that the activities carried out and the contacts established will inspire further artistic cooperation 🤝 between our partners.

The exhibition, which was officially opened on May 13, is open to the public until May 27 during the library’s visiting hours.

The exhibition "From Hieroglyphs to Cartoons" was supported from public sources by the 🇸🇰Art Support Fund and the 🇸🇰 LITA association of authors and also by the Cultural diplomacy project of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of Slovakia.

The Embassy of the Slovak Republic in Cairo, in cooperation with the Egyptian Caricature Association and MISR Public Library, has the honour to invite you to the joint Slovak 🇸🇰–Egyptian 🇪🇬 exhibition “From Hieroglyphs to Cartoons.”

The exhibition will be on display at MISR Public Library in Dokki from 14–27 May, during regular opening hours. Admission is free.

We also invite you to attend the workshop “The Meaning of Caricatures in Slovakia,” where visitors will have the opportunity to explore, together with our artists, the ideas hidden behind caricature and to express their own critical reflections through artistic creation. 🖌️🎨

Uplynulý víkend patril športovým výkonom diplomatov v Káhire.
Pod záštitou Ministerstva zahraničných vecí Egypta 🇪🇬 sa konali preteky v behu, 🏃‍♂️‍➡️ aj diplomatický padelový turnaj ‍🏸. Na oboch podujatiach zástupcovia slovenského veľvyslanectva získali medailové umiestnenie. 🥇🥈

Cieľom športových podujatí bolo podporiť angažovanosť diplomatickej komunity a prispieť k humanitárnej podpore venovanej na pomoc a obnovu Gazy. Aktívnou účasťou tak 🇸🇰kolegovia a ich rodinní príslušníci preukázali solidaritu a športového ducha. 💪

Over the weekend, diplomats gathered in Cairo for sporting events hosted by the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The program included a running race 🏃‍♂️‍➡️and a diplomatic paddle tournament, 🏸 where Slovak Embassy representatives proudly earned medals. 🥇🥈

The purpose of the event was to strengthen engagement within the diplomatic community and to contribute to humanitarian efforts supporting relief and reconstruction in Gaza. Through their active participation, 🇸🇰 colleagues and their family members demonstrated both solidarity and true sportsmanship. 💪

V dňoch 20. až 22. apríla 2026 sa uskutočnila prac. cesta zástupcov Delegácie EÚ v Káhire a obchodných diplomatov jej členských štátov do guvernorátov Alexandria a Beheira. Cieľom bolo nadviazať kontakty so zástupcami obchodných komôr, asociácií ako aj s miestnymi podnikateľmi a hľadať príležitosti pre rozširovanie ekonomickej spolupráce.

Súčasťou boli stretnutia s guvernérom Alexandrie A. Attiom, guvernérkou regiónu Begeira J. Azerovou. Delegácia navštívila viaceré firmy pôsobiace v najstaršej a najväčšej egyptskej priemyselnej zóne nachádzajúcej sa pri Alexandrii, a tiež v regióne Beheira, a to zo sektora potravinárstva, farmaceutického priemyslu, obchodu, logistiky a textilného priemyslu. Egyptskí podnikatelia informovali o aktuálnych trendoch v ich podnikaní a investičných plánoch - vrátane tých, ktoré chystajú s podporou verejného sektora a s možnou účasťou zahraničných aktérov.

Veľvyslanectvo SR na podujatí zastupoval ekonomický diplomat Miroslav Ondrej, ktorý sprostredkuje nadobudnuté poznatky slovenským podnikateľom zaujímajúcim sa o tento región.
