๐ธCelebrating Women, Their Voices, and Their Stories:
On International Women's Day, we celebrate the strength, achievements, and resilience of women everywhere.
From early calls for education to modern discussions on empowerment and social justice, books have long been at the heart of the conversation about womenโs rights. Through the pages of these books, generations of writers, activists, and thinkers have documented struggles, shared visions, and inspired change.
The AUC Library preserves many of these voices in its book collection that reflect the evolving story of womenโs rights across cultures and time.

Ramadan, 60 years agoโฆ
What did Ramadan preparation look like in the 1960s? What filled the kitchens? Is it similar to our days?
Pages from Hawwaโ magazine (December 1965) take us on a nostalgic journey into the spirit of the holy month. A carefully planned weekly Ramadan menu, treasured recipes for classics like kunafa and atayif, guidance on healthy fasting, and even a feature celebrating the beloved Ramadan drink and dessert, Qamar al-deen, alongside other sweets that made the month taste special.
Itโs more than recipes and tips; itโs a snapshot of how Ramadan was lived and celebrated in another era.
What dishes from your childhood Ramadan table still live in your memory today?
Take a closer look and let the pages carry you back in time ๐๐

Thereโs something magical about the quiet of a library, the soft turning of pages, the calm focus, the feeling that every answer is within reach. ๐โจ As Albert Einstein once said, โThe only thing that you absolutely have to know is the location of the library.โ A reminder that knowledge isnโt about knowing everything, itโs about knowing where to find it.
Whether youโre researching, reading, or simply working on your assignments, visit the RBSCL and let curiosity lead you to your next discovery.
