Please note that the Library will be closed during the Eid holidays from Thursday, 19 March to Monday, 23 March 2026.

We will resume our services on Tuesday, 24 March, with the following hours:
🕣 Daily: 8:30 AM – 4:00 PM
🕣 Mondays: 8:30 AM – 7:45 PM
🚫 Fridays & Saturdays: Closed

The RBSCL archives are a testament to the Egyptian and regional women who defied the odds. From the early twentieth-century pioneers documented in our University Archives to the groundbreaking social scientists in the Marie Assaad oral history or Aziza Hussein collection, the RBSCL is a treasure trove of female intellectual brilliance.

Ramadan, 60 years ago…
What did Ramadan preparation look like in the 1960s? What filled the kitchens? Is it similar to our days?

Pages from Hawwa’ magazine (December 1965) take us on a nostalgic journey into the spirit of the holy month. A carefully planned weekly Ramadan menu, treasured recipes for classics like kunafa and atayif, guidance on healthy fasting, and even a feature celebrating the beloved Ramadan drink and dessert, Qamar al-deen, alongside other sweets that made the month taste special.
