Renewed hostilities and repeated displacement have forced over 1 million people from their homes, with women and girls among the most affected. An estimated 390,000 women of reproductive age, including 16,000 pregnant women, are struggling to access safe maternal care as health facilities are damaged or closed. Overcrowded shelters are also heightening protection risks, including gender-based violence.

UNFPA is urgently scaling up life-saving sexual and reproductive health and gender-based violence services and is appealing for US$25 million to support 450,000 people.

As the conflict enters its third year, Sudan has become the world’s largest hunger and displacement crisis. Women and girls face growing risks as essential services collapse. Despite severe funding gaps and security challenges, UNFPA continues to support health workers and provide safe spaces and critical care for displaced women and girls.

The violence must end. Civilians and humanitarian workers must be protected, and life-saving aid must reach those in need.

A woman or a girl should never have to bargain for her safety, health, or agency.

Across , drought has left 6.5 million people facing acute food insecurity, worsening displacement and humanitarian needs.

Women and girls face rising risks of gender-based violence, limited access to sexual and reproductive health services, and increased maternal health complications across affected regions.

Since January 2026, UNFPA reached 44,000+ people with life-saving services. Yet only 19% of the appeal is funded.
