Egypt Condemns the Targeting of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) in Southern Lebanon

The Arab Republic of Egypt condemns the attack that targeted a site belonging to the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) in southern Lebanon, which resulted in the killing of a Serbian soldier and the injury of two soldiers from Spain and El Salvador.

Egypt reaffirms its categorical rejection of any targeting of United Nations peacekeeping forces. Egypt further emphasizes the importance of ensuring the security and safety of UN personnel, as well as enabling them to carry out their duties in accordance with their UN mandate, thereby contributing to the support of security and stability in Lebanon.

Egypt also extends its sincere condolences and deepest sympathy to the government and people of the Republic of Serbia over the death of the Serbian soldier and wishes a speedy recovery to the injured personnel.

Egypt reiterates the importance of preserving the security of UNIFIL forces, given the vital role they play in maintaining security and stability in Lebanon.

Minister of Foreign Affairs Receives Phone Call from the Foreign Minister of the Democratic Republic of the Congo

Dr. Badr Abdelatty, Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptian Expatriates, received a phone call on Thursday, 4 June, from Ms. Thérèse Kayikwamba Wagner, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

The call focused on discussing ways to strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries and exchanging of views on a number of regional issues of mutual interest.

Minister Abdelatty emphasized Egypt’s pride in the historic ties between the two countries and the tangible progress achieved in bilateral relations in recent years.
He expressed Egypt’s aspiration to further boost cooperation across political, economic, and developmental spheres and to build on the positive momentum in relations between the two countries in a manner that achieves the interests of their peoples.

For her part, the Foreign Minister of the Democratic Republic of the Congo conveyed her country’s sincere appreciation to the Egyptian leadership, commending the medical and food assistance, as well as pharmaceutical supplies, provided by Egypt in support of efforts to combat the Ebola virus.
She stressed that these noble gestures reflect the strength of the fraternal ties between the two countries and embody Egypt’s supportive role toward the Democratic Republic of the Congo under various circumstances.

Regarding water security, the two ministers agreed on the importance of adhering to the rules and principles of international law governing transboundary watercourses, foremost among them the principles of no significant harm and prior notification.

They also reaffirmed the importance of maintaining a spirit of consensus and fraternity in order to restore comprehensiveness within the Nile Basin Initiative and ensure the success of its ongoing consultative process, in a manner that promotes cooperation, integration, and the realization of the shared interests of the Basin countries, while supporting security, stability, and sustainable development for their peoples.

تلقى د. بدر عبد العاطي، وزير الخارجية والتعاون الدولي والمصريين بالخارج، اتصالاً هاتفياً من السيدة تيريز فاجنر، وزيرة خارجية جمهورية الكونجو الديمقراطية، يوم الخميس ٤ يونيو، حيث تناول الاتصال سبل تعزيز العلاقات الثنائية بين البلدين الشقيقين، وتبادل الرؤى بشأن عدد من القضايا الإقليمية ذات الاهتمام المشترك.

أكد الوزير عبد العاطي خلال الاتصال اعتزاز مصر بالعلاقات التاريخية التي تجمع البلدين، وما شهدته من تطور ملموس خلال السنوات الأخيرة، معرباً عن التطلع لمواصلة تعزيز التعاون الثنائي في مختلف المجالات السياسية والاقتصادية والتنموية، والبناء على الزخم الإيجابي الذي تشهده العلاقات بين البلدين بما يحقق مصالح الشعبين الشقيقين.

من جانبها، أعربت وزيرة خارجية جمهورية الكونجو الديمقراطية عن خالص شكر وتقدير بلادها للقيادة السياسية المصرية، مثمنةً المساعدات الطبية والغذائية وشحنات الأدوية التي قدمتها مصر لدعم جهود مواجهة فيروس الإيبولا، مؤكدةً أن هذه المواقف النبيلة تعكس متانة العلاقات الأخوية بين البلدين وتجسد الدور المصري الداعم لجمهورية الكونجو الديمقراطية في مختلف الظروف.

وفيما يتعلق بالأمن المائي، توافق الوزيران على أهمية الالتزام بقواعد ومبادئ القانون الدولي الحاكمة للمجاري المائية العابرة للحدود، وعلى رأسها مبدأ عدم الإضرار والإخطار المسبق، والتمسك بروح التوافق والأخوة لاستعادة الشمولية بمبادرة حوض النيل NBI والعمل لإنجاح العملية التشاورية في المبادرة، بما يسهم في تعزيز التعاون والتكامل وتحقيق المصالح المشتركة لدول الحوض، وبما يدعم الأمن والاستقرار والتنمية المستدامة لشعوبها.

Minister of Foreign Affairs and French Counterpart Discuss Bilateral Relations and Regional Developments in a Phone Call

A phone call was held on Thursday, 4 June, between Dr. Badr Abdelatty, Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptian Expatriates, and Jean-Noël Barrot, Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs of France.

The call addressed ways to strengthen the strategic relations between the two countries, as well as regional developments and efforts to de-escalate tensions in the region.

The two ministers commended the depth of bilateral relations between the two countries, particularly following their elevation to the level of a strategic partnership.

They expressed their aspiration to further boost cooperation across various fields, especially in the economic and trade sectors.

They also praised the close relations between the leaderships of both countries and welcomed the recent visit of the French President to Egypt, which included the inauguration of Senghor University in Borg El Arab City, reflecting the depth and diversity of the Egypt–France partnership.

The ministers further discussed regional developments. Minister Abdelatty briefed his French counterpart on Egypt’s intensive efforts to contain regional escalation. He emphasized the need to prioritize diplomatic solutions and highlighted Egypt’s support for the negotiating track between the United States and Iran as a means of reducing tensions and advancing political solutions.

Moreover, the two ministers exchanged views on developments in the Gaza Strip. Minister Abdelatty stressed the importance of completing all obligations related to the first phase of the U.S. President’s plan and commencing implementation of the second phase. He also underscored the importance of enabling the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza to begin carrying out its responsibilities from within the Gaza Strip, as well as the swift deployment of an international stabilization force.

The two foreign ministers agreed to maintain close coordination and consultations within the framework of the strategic relationship linking Egypt and France, and to continue working jointly to reduce tensions and support security and stability in the region.

جرى اتصال هاتفي بين د. بدر عبد العاطي وزير الخارجية والتعاون الدولي والمصريين في الخارج، والسيد "جان نويل بارو" وزير خارجية فرنسا، يوم الخميس ٤ يونيو، حيث تناول الاتصال سبل تعزيز العلاقات الاستراتيجية بين البلدين الصديقين، إلى جانب التطورات الإقليمية وسبل خفض التصعيد في المنطقة.

وأشاد الوزيران بعمق العلاقات الثنائية بين البلدين الصديقين، لاسيما عقب الارتقاء بها إلى مستوى الشراكة الاستراتيجية، وأعربا عن تطلعهما إلى تعزيز التعاون في مختلف المجالات، خاصة الاقتصادية والتجارية. كما أشادا بالعلاقات الوثيقة التي تجمع قيادتي البلدين، ورحبا بالزيارة الأخيرة التي أجراها الرئيس الفرنسي إلى مصر، والتي شهدت افتتاح جامعة سنجور بمدينة برج العرب، بما يعكس عمق وتنوع الشراكة المصرية الفرنسية.

كما تناول الوزيران التطورات الإقليمية، حيث أطلع وزير الخارجية نظيره الفرنسي على الجهود الحثيثة التي تبذلها مصر لاحتواء التصعيد في المنطقة، مؤكداً ضرورة إعطاء الأولوية للحلول الدبلوماسية، ومنوهاً بدعم مصر للمسار التفاوضي بين الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية وإيران، بما يسهم في خفض التصعيد وتعزيز الحلول السياسية.

كما تبادل الوزيران الرؤى بشأن التطورات في قطاع غزة، حيث أكد الوزير عبد العاطي أهمية الانتهاء من كافة استحقاقات المرحلة الأولى من خطة الرئيس الأمريكي، والبدء فى تنفيذ استحقاقات المرحلة الثانية، مشيراً إلى أهمية بدء اللجنة الوطنية لإدارة قطاع غزة ممارسة مهامها من داخل القطاع، وسرعة نشر قوة الاستقرار الدولية.

واتفق وزيرا الخارجية على مواصلة التنسيق والتشاور الوثيق في إطار العلاقات الاستراتيجية التي تربط مصر بفرنسا، والعمل المشترك من أجل خفض التصعيد ودعم الأمن والاستقرار في المنطقة.

Two Phone Calls between the Foreign Minister with his Iranian Counterpart and the U.S. Special Envoy for the Middle East

Two phone calls were held on Tuesday, June 2, between Dr. Badr Abdelatty, Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Egyptian Expatriates, and both Mr. Abbas Araghchi, Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and Mr. Steve Witkoff, the U.S. Special Envoy for the Middle East.
The conversations were part of ongoing efforts to monitor regional developments.

Ambassador Tamim Khallaf, the Official Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated that the two calls focused on developments in the course of U.S.–Iran negotiations.

Views were exchanged on ways to advance the negotiating process and efforts being made to reach a mutually acceptable settlement that would help reduce tensions between the two sides.

Ambassador Khallaf added that Minister Abdelatty reiterated during both calls the importance of continuing efforts to reach a consensual solution to the crisis.
He emphasized Egypt’s keenness to maintain efforts, in coordination with regional partners, to achieve a settlement that takes into account the concerns of all parties and supports regional security and stability.

جرى اتصالان هاتفيان بين د. بدر عبد العاطي، وزير الخارجية والتعاون الدولي والمصريين بالخارج، وكل من السيد عباس عراقجي، وزير خارجية الجمهورية الإسلامية الإيرانية، والسيد ستيف ويتكوف، المبعوث الأمريكي الخاص للشرق الأوسط، يوم الثلاثاء ٢ يونيو، وذلك في إطار متابعة مستجدات الأوضاع الإقليمية.

وصرح السفير تميم خلاف المتحدث الرسمى باسم وزارة الخارجية أن الاتصالين تناولا تطورات مسار المفاوضات الأمريكية - الإيرانية، حيث تم تبادل الرؤى حول سبل دفع المسار التفاوضي، والجهود المبذولة للتوصل إلى تسوية توافقية تسهم في خفض التوتر بين الجانبين.

واضاف المتحدث الرسمى أن الوزير عبد العاطي جدد خلال الاتصالين أهمية مواصلة الدفع نحو التوصل لحل توافقي للأزمة، مؤكدا استمرار مصر في بذل جهودها بالتعاون مع الشركاء الإقليميين للتوصل لتسوية تراعي شواغل كافة الأطراف تدعم الأمن والاستقرار الإقليمي.

Minister of Foreign Affairs Meets Benin’s Foreign Minister to Discuss Ways of Strengthening Bilateral Cooperation

On the sidelines of the Korea–Africa Ministerial Meeting, Dr. Badr Abdelatty, Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptian Expatriates, met on Monday, 1 June, Ms. Corinne Amori Brunet, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Benin, to discuss ways of strengthening bilateral cooperation and coordinating positions on issues of mutual interest.

Minister Abdelatty congratulated his Beninese counterpart on assuming her position, reaffirming Egypt’s keenness to further strengthen bilateral relations with Benin and build on the positive momentum witnessed in recent years.
He emphasized Egypt’s aspiration to elevate bilateral ties to broader horizons during the coming period.

Minister Abdelatty commended the progress achieved by Benin in the fields of economic development and institutional reform under its ambitious national development plans, particularly Benin Vision 2060.
He also reiterated Egypt’s keenness to contribute meaningfully to Benin’s development efforts, drawing on the advanced expertise and capabilities of Egyptian companies in the fields of construction, infrastructure, tourism, energy, and pharmaceutical industries.

The two ministers also exchanged views on ways to promote peace, security, stability, and development across the African continent. They agreed to bolster coordination at both the bilateral and multilateral levels and to build on the existing political and development momentum in a manner that serves mutual interests and supports stability and development throughout Africa.

Minister of Foreign Affairs Meets Angola’s Foreign Minister to Discuss Strengthening Bilateral Cooperation and Coordination on African Issues

On the sidelines of the Korea–Africa Ministerial Meeting, Dr. Badr Abdelatty, Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptian Expatriates, met on Monday, 1 June, Mr. Téte António, Minister of External Relations of the Republic of Angola.

The meeting focused on ways to strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries and consultations on a number of regional and international issues.

Minister Abdelatty expressed appreciation for the notable progress witnessed in Egyptian–Angolan relations at various levels. He praised the existing coordination between the two countries in regional and international fora and highlighted Egypt’s aspiration to build on the outcomes of the Joint Committee between the two countries and further enhance economic, trade, and investment cooperation in a manner that achieves the mutual interests of the two peoples.

Minister Abdelatty also reviewed the ongoing preparations for Egypt’s hosting of the inaugural edition of the Alamein–Africa Business Forum, scheduled to take place later this month on the sidelines of the Mid-Year Coordination Summit of the African Union.

The two ministers also exchanged views on a number of African issues.
Minister Abdelatty reaffirmed Egypt’s support for efforts aimed at promoting peace and stability across the African continent, including initiatives seeking to address the situation in the Great Lakes region.

The two sides agreed to maintain coordination and consultation in support of peace, stability, and sustainable development throughout Africa.

Minister of Foreign Affairs Meets São Tomé and Príncipe’s Foreign Minister to Discuss Ways to Strengthen Bilateral Cooperation

Dr. Badr Abdelatty, Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptian Expatriates, met with Dr. Ilza Maria dos Santos Amado Vaz, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation and Communities of the Democratic Republic of São Tomé and Príncipe, to discuss ways to strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries.

Minister Abdelatty emphasized Egypt’s keenness to supporting and advancing cooperation with São Tomé and Príncipe and maintaining coordination and consultation on African issues.

Dr. Abdelatty looked forward to continue joint efforts in a manner that serves the interests of the two peoples and supports development and stability efforts across the African continent.

The two ministers also reviewed opportunities to boost cooperation in the fields of economy, investment, trade, training, and capacity-building.
They underscored the importance of exchanging expertise and benefiting from the training programmes offered by Egyptian institutions, in a manner that contributes to supporting sustainable development efforts in São Tomé and Príncipe and strengthening economic and investment cooperation between the two countries.

On the sidelines of the Korea–Africa Ministerial Meeting, Dr. Badr Abdelatty, Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptian Expatriates, met Dr. Thambo Gina, Minister of Economic Planning and Development of the Kingdom of Eswatini.

Minister Abdelatty reaffirmed Egypt’s keenness to strengthening economic and development cooperation with Eswatini and building on the distinguished relations between the two countries in a manner that contributes to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals and supporting national development priorities.

The meeting focused on ways to enhance cooperation in the fields of investment, trade, infrastructure, and capacity-building, as well as opportunities to benefit from Egyptian expertise in the implementation of development projects.

The two sides also underscored the importance of encouraging engagement between public and private sector institutions in both countries and exploring new avenues for economic cooperation that serve the mutual interests of the two peoples.

Egypt Strongly Condemns the Storming of Al-Aqsa Mosque and Escalating Israeli Violations in Jerusalem and the West Bank

The Arab Republic of Egypt condemns, in the strongest terms, the repeated and provocative incursions by Israeli settlers into Al-Aqsa Mosque under the protection of the Israeli police, as well as the accompanying unacceptable practices and violations that infringe upon the sanctity of Islamic holy sites and the historical and legal status quo in occupied Jerusalem.

Egypt also unequivocally condemns the ongoing Israeli escalation in Jerusalem and the occupied West Bank, including incursions, arrests, and attacks against Palestinians and their property, in flagrant violation of international law and relevant international legitimacy resolutions.

Egypt reaffirms that such escalatory practices would further inflame tensions and undermine prospects for de-escalation and stability in the Occupied Palestinian Territory and the region as a whole.

Egypt further warns against the dangers of undermining religious holy sites or attempting to impose a new reality in occupied Jerusalem.

Egypt reiterates its call on the international community to assume its responsibilities to halt the ongoing Israeli violations against the Palestinian people and to ensure respect for the historical and legal status quo of Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem, in a manner that fulfills the legitimate aspirations of the Palestinian people and contributes to the restoration of security and stability in the region.

Foreign Minister Meets Cameroonian Counterpart to Discuss Boosting Bilateral Relations and Coordinate on African Issues

Dr. Badr Abdelatty, Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Egyptian Expatriates, met with Mr. Lejeune Mbella Mbella, Minister of External Relations of the Republic of Cameroon, on the sidelines of the Korea–Africa Ministerial Meeting.

During the meeting, Minister Abdelatty reaffirmed Egypt's keenness to continue building upon the momentum witnessed in bilateral relations and to drive joint cooperation toward broader prospects, particularly in the economic, trade, investment, and capacity-building fields.

The two ministers also exchanged views on a number of regional and African issues of mutual interest.
They emphasized the importance of sustained coordination and consultation within regional and international forums, as well as strengthening cooperation to help support development efforts and achieve peace and stability across the African continent.

التقى د. بدر عبد العاطي، وزير الخارجية والتعاون الدولي والمصريين بالخارج، بالسيد لوجن مبيلا مبيلا، وزير العلاقات الخارجية لجمهورية الكاميرون، وذلك على هامش الاجتماع الوزاري الكوري–الأفريقي، حيث أكد الوزير عبد العاطي الحرص على مواصلة البناء على الزخم الذي تشهده العلاقات الثنائية، ودفع التعاون المشترك إلى آفاق أرحب، لا سيما في المجالات الاقتصادية والتجارية والاستثمارية وبناء القدرات.

كما تبادل الوزيران الرؤى حول عدد من القضايا الإقليمية والأفريقية ذات الاهتمام المشترك، مؤكدين أهمية مواصلة التنسيق والتشاور في المحافل الإقليمية والدولية، وتعزيز التعاون بما يسهم في دعم جهود التنمية وتحقيق الأمن والاستقرار في القارة الأفريقية.
