The Embassy of The Republic of The Gambia Madrid, Spain

The Deputy head of Mission and the Counsellor of the Embassy of The Gambia in Madrid on Sunday the 24th of August, 2025 visited the Gambians who piloted the Spain/Gambia Migration Work Exchange scheme.
During the visit the Embassy officials had meetings with the CEO of the agency who facilitated the contracts and then proceeded to have meetings with the Gambians at their residence. The Embassy officials were very impressed with their accommodation which was provided with air conditionings, a special Van accorded to the Gambians for their transportation to and from work and the cater for their grocery shopping and hospital appointments. Their fellow Gambian who is also part of the team is the assigned driver.
Contrary to speculations that the living conditions (their accommodation) as seen in the pictures are bad, the boys themselves expressed satisfaction to the Embassy officials with where they are accommodated.
During the meeting with Head of the Agency express his disappointment with the 3 individuals who absconded and discribed as an unwise decision, hence the consequences of risking being arrested and deported back to the Gambia. He comfirm their willingness to recruit more Gambians from The Gambia in the coming seasons. The Embassy officials, both the Deputy head of Mission Mr Lamin S.Demba and Councilor Mr Saibo Drammeh, advised the boys to take their work seriously and be good ambassadors of the Gambia in Spain. They advised them to take advantage of the rare opportunity and privilege given and to mentain a cordial relationship between them, throughout the scheme.If they mentain their contracts, they can work and be travelling back and forth to the Gambia and after 4 years be entitled to permanent residency in Spain. They also advice them to desist from absconding, hence that is just going to make them loose their immigration status and further make their stay very difficult in Spain.

The Embassy in Madrid would like to inform all in their jurisdiction that the following are the scheduled dates for the enrolment of Biometric Passports in the respective regions of Spain.Please note the 6th of August is changed to Tenerif instead of 3 days in Las Palmas. Thank you 🙏.
