HAPPENING NOW: The Philippine Embassy in Spain, together with MWO-OWWA Madrid, continued its series of prison visits today, 1 June 2026, to check on the welfare of detained Filipino nationals and provide consular and welfare assistance as needed.

The visit was led by Attaché Sharone Fajardo, the Embassy's ATN Officer, Welfare Officer Verusckha Ardel Maling and Ms. Avaegail Duldulao, MWO's ATN Officer.

The visits form part of the Embassy’s continuing efforts to ensure that Filipinos in vulnerable situations remain supported and informed of available government services.

HAPPENING NOW: The Philippine Embassy in Spain led by Consul Dyan Kristine Miranda Pastrana met with officials of Madrid’s District of Retiro to discuss potential areas of collaboration and strengthen ties between the Filipino community and local institutions today, 01 June 2026.

The meeting was attended by Ms. Carolina López Vilar, Advisor to the Municipal Board of the District of Retiro; Ms. Rocío Picón, Deputy Director General for Relations with Cities and Countries; and Mr. Pedro García García, Technical Advisor of the District of Retiro, together with Ms. Janice Raposas, Cultural Officer.

Discussions focused on opportunities for cooperation in the fields of culture, community engagement, education, and initiatives that promote greater integration and participation of Filipinos in local civic life. The meeting also provided an opportunity to exchange views on programs that could further enhance people-to-people connections and foster mutual understanding between the Philippines and Spain.

HAPPENING NOW: The Philippine Embassy in Spain is holding the closing ceremony for the third batch of its Spanish Language Program, Level Up: Español para Todos, at Sentro Rizal-Madrid today, Sunday, 31 May 2026.

Implemented in partnership with Bright Corner Academy and OWWA Madrid, the program was designed to equip newly arrived Filipinos in Spain with foundational Spanish language skills, enabling them to better access essential services, navigate daily life, and integrate more confidently into their local communities.

The ceremony was attended by Philippine Embassy officials led by Consul Dyan Kristine Miranda-Pastrana, Welfare Officer Verusckha Ardel Maling, Ms. Janice Raposas, and Ms. Cyvil Marin Mata who congratulated the participants on their dedication and successful completion of the program.

The Embassy commends the graduates for taking this important step toward building their lives in Spain and encourages them to continue their language-learning journey.

HAPPENING NOW: The Philippine Embassy in Spain joined MWO-OWWA Madrid in the 2nd Edition of the Sushi-Making Training held today, Sunday, 31 May 2026, at Alitaptap Escuela de Cocina in Madrid.

Welfare Officer Verusckha Ardel Maling delivered the welcome remarks, while Consul Dyan Kristine Miranda-Pastrana and Labor Attaché Angela Librado-Trinidad also addressed the participants during the event.

This initiative reflects the shared commitment of the Philippine Embassy and MWO-OWWA Madrid to empowering Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) through skills development and lifelong learning opportunities.

Beyond enhancing participants’ culinary expertise, the training equips them with valuable skills that can create pathways to employment, entrepreneurship, and career advancement in the hospitality and food service industries.

INVITATION: The Philippine Embassy in Spain and Sentro Rizal-Madrid, in cooperation with the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA), is pleased to share the recorded session of 𝐋𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐇𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐠𝐞: 𝐂𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐈𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐃𝐢𝐚𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐮𝐞𝐬 presented as part of the May 2026 offering of ASEAN Lectures in celebration of National Heritage Month, which premieres tomorrow, 31 May 2026, at 10:00AM (CEST).

This special program also marks the joint commemoration of Eid al-Adha and the opening of the ASEAN Corner, featuring meaningful conversations on heritage, cultural identity, and the ways communities sustain traditions in today’s evolving world.

The meeting explored ideas for for the upcoming Tour Guide Training Program for Overseas Filipinos in Spain.The initiative aims to empower the Filipino community by equipping participants with professional tour guiding skills, promoting Philippine culture and heritage abroad, and creating new livelihood and tourism opportunities for overseas Filipinos in Spain.

HAPPENING NOW: The Philippine Embassy in Spain, together with MWO-OWWA Madrid, conducted a prison visit today, 28 May 2026 at the Centro Penitenciario Madrid III, in line with its continuing commitment to the welfare of Filipinos overseas.

The visit provided an opportunity to check on the condition of Filipino nationals, extend appropriate assistance, and reaffirm the Philippine government’s support for its citizens abroad.

HAPPENING NOW: The Philippine Embassy in Spain led by Consul Dyan Kristine Miranda Pastrana, together with PTIC-Madrid led by Commercial Counsellor Althea Karen P. Antonio, met with representatives of the Department of Trade and Industry’s Competitiveness and Innovation Group (DTI-CIG) and the Centro para el Desarrollo Tecnológico y la Innovación, E.P.E. (CDTI) or Spanish Innovation Agency, today, 28 May 2026.

Joining from CDTI were Mr. Suresh Chithathur Raman and Ms. Patricia Sanchez Pacheco. Representing DTI-CIG were Assistant Director Karl Lyndon Pacolor while Ms. Janice Raposas, Economic Diplomacy Assistant and PTIC Consultant Carlos Javier Barcelon also participated on behalf of the Embassy.

The online meeting explored possible areas of cooperation in research and development, technology transfer, and innovation ecosystems that can contribute to sustainable and inclusive economic development in Spain and the Philippines.
