Today, we commemorate Robert Schuman's inauguration as the first President of the European Parliamentary Assembly on March 19, 1958.

Robert Schuman, a member of the French resistance during the Second World War, was captured and imprisoned. Following the war, he authored the renowned ‘Schuman Declaration’ with the aim to unify Europe and prevent further conflicts.

His legacy continues to serve as a source of inspiration 🇪🇺
