Holding a little Variant of names, (Ashenda-in Majority of Tigray), (Ashendeye-in Lalibela), (Shadey- in Wag Himra), (Solel- in Raya) and (Aynewari in Axum) is a young girls' festival in northern Ethiopia that followed the end of 15 days fasting called fiesta to honor Virgin Mary of Zion by Ethiopian and Eritrean Orthodox Christian faith followers. This winter event carries both religious and cultural significance and provides an opportunity for the girls to shine.
During this special holiday, the young girls gather in groups, dressed in their vibrant Habesha kemis (one of the traditional Ethiopian attire), to sing and dance around their towns and cities. For three days, they visit various places, collecting gifts from strangers along the way. On the holiday itself, the young girls attend church services first before proceeding with their celebrations. They circle the church three times while singing songs of gratitude to God.
Travelers who are planning to partake in this festival are in for a treat as they will witness the stunning northern Ethiopia highlands adorned with lush greenery. The festival stands as a unique experience where visitors can immerse themselves in Ethiopian culture while reveling in breathtaking landscapes

Sof Omar Caves, also known as Holqa Sof Omar, is the longest system of caves in Africa, and it is located in the Bale Province within the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia.
Considered to be one of the world’s most spectacular and extensive underground caves, it is carved from the Weib River which has changed its course in the distant past and it has carved a new channel through the limestone foothills which today are known as the Sof Omar Caves.
The Weib River vanishes into the giant world of deep vaulted chambers leaving every visitor in a simple awe with its astonishing curves. Named after the saintly Sheik Sof Omar Ahmed, who took refuge here sometime in 11 century, the caves too have a somewhat religious history that predates the arrival of the Muslims in Bale.
