In the first-leg qualifier for the 2027 African Nations Cup, the Eritrean National Team defeated the Eswatini National Team 2-0.
The two national teams played their first-leg match at Meknes City Stadium in Morocco yesterday at 7 p.m.
According to a report by Mr Dirar Fesehaye, a member of the Public Relations Office of the Commission of Culture and Sports, Eritrea secured victory through goals scored by Siem Eyob and Ali Suleiman in the 82nd and 94th minutes of the match.
The second leg will be played next Tuesday, 31 March, in Eswatini.
The Eritrean National Team comprises 12 players from inside the country, as well as Eritrean professional players currently playing in football leagues in various countries, who were called up by the Eritrean Football Federation.

A cars and motor bicycles race organized by the National Cars and Motor Bicycles Federation was carried out yesterday, 22 March, in the Biet-Gergis area of Asmara.
There were 57 competitors across seven categories, including the 1000 to 2000 cc category, while motorbike races were held in two categories: 125 cc and 175 cc, with seven participants.
Out of the 8 competitors in the 2000 cc category, Leonardo Modici, Mulubrhan Solomon, and Milkias Russom stood first, second, and third respectively, while in the motorbike race, Misgina Mehari, Elodi Goitom, and Embaye Samuel stood first, second, and third respectively out of five competitors. Likewise, in the 1300 cc category “B,” Betelhem Fitsum stood third out of 6 competitors and was presented with a special award.
Awards were presented to the winners in each category.

The Eritrean Football National Team has arrived in Meknes, Morocco, to play its first-leg match against Eswatini’s National Team in the qualifiers for the 2027 African Nations Cup.
Upon arrival in Casablanca, the National Team was welcomed by Mr. Paulos Weldehaimanot, President of the National Football Federation of Eritrea and the Council for East and Central Africa Football Associations, along with officials of the Moroccan Football Federation.
The national team includes 12 players from inside the country, as well as 14 Eritreans currently playing in football leagues in the UK, Egypt, Germany, Sweden, and Australia.
The players of the National Team from inside the country have already conducted their first training session as part of the preparation program, while the remaining Europe-based players are expected to join the team in the coming days ahead of the much-awaited first-leg match scheduled for 25 March.
