Digital Content Creators Key to Promoting Africa’s True Image

​Panelists at the first Africa Social Media Influencers Summit (ASMIS 2026) emphasized that digital creators are vital in leading Africa's narrative. Held at the Adwa Victory Memorial in Addis Ababa, the summit brought together 61 influencers from 30 African countries (321M combined followers) and 120 Ethiopian creators (150M combined followers).

​Prominent Ghanaian creator Wode Maya stressed that Africans must tell their own stories, highlighting his work showcasing Ethiopia's progress.

Miss World Africa 2025, Hasiet Dereje, noted that true influence comes from authentically presenting African culture and values.

Government officials affirmed their commitment to partnering with creators to shift the global narrative from misconceptions to a focus on growth and innovation.
