Buhie/ Debre Tabor!

Buhie/ Debre Tabor is one of the most celebrated festivals of the Ethiopian Orthodox church. The day is the commemoration day of the Transfiguration of Jesus in the mountain of Tabor.

As the story of the new statement narrative in episode Matthew 17:1–9, Mark 9:2-8, Luke 9:28–36 Jesus is transfigured (metamorphosed) and becomes radiant upon a mountain. In these accounts, Jesus and the three apostles go to a mountain (the Mount of Transfiguration). On the mountain, Jesus begins to shine with bright rays of light. Then the prophets Moses and Elijah appear next to him and he speaks with them. Jesus is then called "Son" by a voice in the sky, assumed to be God the Father, as in the Baptism of Jesus.

When the day is celebrated in Ethiopia young boys prepare a kind of rope /lash to make a sound and a fire from Chibbo to show the lightning that can resemble the happening in the mountain of Tabor. Beyond that Ethiopian orthodox mothers prepared a kind of bread called Mulmul to remind those shepherds around Tabor Mountain in time of the Transfiguration of Jesus Christ.
