As we mark the International Day of Peace, we reflect on the challenging and turbulent period many communities across Africa continue to navigate.
Peace is not simply the absence of conflict. It is built through dialogue, inclusion, reconciliation and the everyday efforts of communities to create a safer and more hopeful future.
🇳🇿 is proud to have contributed to peacebuilding efforts across the region, from support to UNMISS and South Sudan's peace process, to Ethiopia's National Dialogue, and grassroots initiatives that bring local communities together to address conflict and build trust.
For us, peace means "rangimārie" and "kōrero": dialogue and conversation. It also means "kotahitanga": working together in unity towards a shared future.
On this International Day of Peace, let us choose kōrero over confrontation, dialogue over division, and cooperation over conflict.
